Apple iOS 7

Verge Review

Apple may deserve more credit than anyone for the way our smartphones look and work, but six years after our first glimpse of the iPhone a lot has changed. Google continued to design and re-design Android; Windows Phone introduced a colorful, vibrant operating system; yet iOS stood mostly still. Until this June, that is, when CEO Tim Cook announced Apple had been working on “the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of the iPhone.” That change is iOS 7, a complete aesthetic...

iOS 7 brings a paradigm shift in the way we think about apps. Content is front and center, removing the interface to breathe life into what should have always been the main focus. Functionality both on stage and behind the scenes is going to give apps more bang for their buck and the template allows the future of iOS to make a smooth landing.

The design is a win. Despite being flat, similar to other OS, iOS 7 is definitely more polished, elegant and beautiful. Of course I think there are designs that are not working too well, but Apple is likely continue going to fine tune it.

The biggest problem is probably slow animation. Which affects the performance. Also, the battery life is supposedly worse on iPhone 5. Hopefully this will be fixed.

Feature wise, I think Apple have added a lot of nice features. They deserve applause for it. With powerful APIs and new 64bit A7, we will see more features from developers soon.

Ecosystem wise, there is just no comparison!

Excellent iteration of iOS. I've been using it since the beta and it just kept getting better. Control center is excellent and so much more convenient than before. The new color layout was initially off putting but grew on me over time and now I love the brightness and palette.

Has great potential and its a good place to start. I enjoy the overall look and feel of IOS7, ( with the exception of a few icons). I have never seen the general public so excited about anything technology related. Fellow students at my school jumping for joy about a software update, and I thought I was the only one!

I've been using ios7 for 3 months and let me say I love it. It's easy to use and it's apple at their best. Siri is great and iTunes Radio is better then Spotify and Pandora. But be warned the iPad version is a little buggy, but it will get better.

Excellent update. Makes the whole ipod new. No cost. There is a sense of entitlement that floats around these days. It is a new OS. Modern , more functional and more beautiful than ever before. In no way is it not better than ios6. And the biggest thing is the APIs. So many apps, all more functional and all looking so new. Its like opening gifts after a birthday. Lastly the icons look good. Too much has been made out of them. The thing is no one even thinks about icon design on any other platform. Reason , you can change them. My thought is i need the os to work for me and not the other way round. Download without hesitation.

I really love the new iOS,; the look, feel, I love how consistent it is. The current Android design, which I like, is a quite neat job, but there's something more in iOS. It's much more refined.

Control center is really nice. Unfortunately we had to wait way too long for this, but at least it's made exactly the way I wanted it to be. No unnecessary toggles I'd never use and the context of it makes perfect sense. Why on Android these toggles are next to notifications or why on previous iOS versions music steering was next to rotation lock or multitasking?

The only thing lacking for me in iOS7 itself (in comparison to competition) is more advanced sharing options. Sending an email with attachments other than photos can be really pain in the ass.

Overall, I like the direction Apple is going in, especially in world where many companies just pack more and more useless and confusing stuff to their software and hardware.

I've had iOS 7 since beta 1 and I must admit that I wasn't a major fan at first glance. After using it day to day, I find it a significant improvement over iOS 6. I know this is subjective, but I personally love the translucency and parallax. My only gripe with the design is the icons. While some are gorgeous, others are just awful and I really hope they can fix that. As far as features go, it really added everything I've asked for in the past, mainly control center. While others may be disappointed in the lack of features for them, this is fine for my usage. As far as performance goes, it is generally good all around, but I do notice some lag on my 3rd generation iPad. Nothing major, but it certainly ruins the experience. Overall, if you own an iDevice, this is a must have.

iOS 7 has been very stable on my iPhone, the design looks really great, of course it will take a little while to get used to it, we have been used to the same thing since 2007. Control is great, the translucency is awesome, the in app designs are amazing

iOS 7 is the first operating system from Apple that I can say looks and feels as magical as Apple devices look and feel from the outside. The design of just about everything impresses me, and I can't wait to see what's next in the future. Right now, though, iOS 7 is everything I wanted it to be and much, much more.
