Apple iPad mini (Wi-Fi)

Verge Review

The iPad mini has arrived — and so has our review. Just last week, Apple introduced the world to the newest member of its wildly successful tablet line, an adorable, diminutive slate with a 7.9-inch display. It even had an adorable ad to show along with it: an iPad mini joining in with a full-sized iPad to play "Heart and Soul" on the piano. But to think of the iPad mini as a companion to the 3rd or 4th generation iPad — some kind of secondary player to the bigger version — would probably be...

I love my ipad mini. I've always loved the idea of the ipad but it felt just a bit big to me. The ipad mini screen size is perfect, great feel. Everyone is talking about how the screen isn't retina but honestly it's not a bad screen, I think it's very good. It's just not amazing like the retina display. I haven't noticed any speed issues so I could care less about the fact the processor is from the ipad 2. Overall, it's exactly what I wanted, a fantastic product with a world of fantastic apps. If it had a retina display, too me, I don't see how a tablet could get any better. It would be a perfect 10.

The device is great for what it is, but it's focus on reusing their 3GS screens and sticking with the lackluster resolution as the OG iPad (for understandable reasons, but that doesn't make it acceptable) made this device compromise after compromise.

It's not on par with devices in this fields in terms of the screen and the only reason the bezel is so small is because the screen had to fit in a device that needs to fit in your hand. But ultimately, it just leaves you with no place to place your hand.

I don't really care about the software that helps it avoid unattended touches, I still wouldn't want to touch the screen when I'm simply trying to hold it. It doesn't feel right.

Along with the price-point, this doesn't really stack up. My grade is based on the hardware and how it uses the software, not the software itself. So I think ecosystem is a lame grade to give on a device score when there already is a separate review for the OS's.
