Of all the cell phones I've owned, newer and older, this has been my favorite device of them all. Easy to use and configure, quick, sturdy, great battery life and form factor. Everything is spot on except for cell reception/call quality for me. I've used other, newer, devices, like Nokia Lumias, that have much better call quality. I'm hearing impaired and I hear a stark difference between iPhones and other devices. Overall, call quality isn't horrible but I've also experienced better. I have a MacBook Pro so I find the interoperability a plus, but I'm no fanboy. If Nokia and Microsoft come out with another enhancement that fixes my issues with their devices - then sarinara Apple and hello Nokia.

iPhone 4S really is a neat phone, sweet, small and what not, but in the Big Boy world, it's overtaken by so many others, like LG, Nokia, Samsung, even HTC has more to offer than ever-so-small iPhone series, I'm on Android phones for quite a while now, but I had opportunity to use iOS, and Android is everything iOS is not - including awesome. Small screen, bulky design, I really hope that with iPhone 5 series at least the screen size gets bigger. And they really should drop all that proprietary crap.

The score is from the stand point of December 2011, back in 2010 - mid 2011 it would have been a 10. From its original release date in 2010 to CDMA release in 2011 till today, the phone is one of the best phones ever made. Reception, call quality, screen quality, updatability (from 4.0 to 5.0) are all matched only by the 4S and Galaxy Nexus released almost a year after the original iPhone 4 was released. In fact to this day is one of the slimmest, most well designed phones on the market.

    As of December 2011:
Screen: 8/10 - incredible screen for its size, but needs to be increased to 4.0 inches.
Call quality: 9/10 - perfect in the city (Chicago), average in the countryside (northern Wisconsin)
Battery Life: 10/10 - in my experience the best battery life on any smartphone, better than the 4S even.
Build quality: 8/10 - feels great in the hand, and amazing materials, but VERY fragile in the wrong hands.
Software : 9/10 - iOS feels a bit stale on the homescreen, but as soon as you are in an app the experience is unmatched.
Content: 10/10 - following on the legacy of the iPod the selection of podcasts, movies, music etc is unmatched in the industry to this day.
Compatibility: 10/10 - if you are at a friend's house or the airport or the office you WILL find someone with an iphone charging cable. When shopping for accessories you WILL find the right one, when trying to explain to TSA what you have in your pocket you WILL be understood, when looking for a cool app your friend has you WILL find it and WILL be able to install it.

Finally when iOS 6 will come out - you ARE more likely than Android to be able to install and run it on this device.

Let me start off by saying that I love this phone. The slick modern design mixed with the crazy detail of the Retina Display makes this by far the best phone to look at and hold. The camera and software on the other hand I do have problems with. While the camera is not terrible it isn't the best camera you can have in a phone, but it is pretty darn close. The software (iOS5) is great at doing what it does best, which is being extremely reliable and user friendly. I just wish iOS had a little more stuff going for it, like widgets.

So, if you like amazing hardware design, reliable and easy to use software, a decent camera, and things that just work, go with this phone. That's why I did.

If you need something that is more customizable, or has a crazy ass camera, you might want to go with something else.

    Pros:
    326ppi LCD Display
iOS 5 with the best apps in any phone ecosystem
    Simplicity
    Easy to jailbreak
    Notification Center
    Best virtual keyboard
    Sturdy feeling

    Neutral:
Camera is only 5 Megapixels but I don't take a lot of photos
Screen may be a tiny bit to small (4" would be great, but my hands are bigger than mosts')
No voice and data at the same time unless on Wifi (I wouldn't use it anyway, but some might want to know this)

    Cons:
The screen glare is bad during the day at anything but almost full brightness
    No Siri
Glass back is a little fragile so if you are clumsy, it is best to get a case.
