Nokia Lumia 720

Verge Review

Nokia's family of Windows Phone 8 handsets just continues to grow. The Finnish smartphone maker is pushing its Lumia devices into the low- and mid-range with devices like the Lumia 620 and 520, but a surprising entry in the form of the Lumia 720 makes Nokia’s budget smartphones a lot more interesting. While the Lumia 920 includes high-end specs and an impressive camera, it's a bulky and heavy device that doesn’t appeal to everyone. Likewise, the Lumia 820 lacks any wow factor with a bland and...

The Lumia 720 comes to users that are looking for a very beautiful smartphone with a great experience. It has one of the biggest lens aperture, what gives you high quality and more light to your photos. The Windows Phone is a pretty good OS, but most of the reviews don't say that, because they are not users. The only thing said is that it doesn't have the most important apps (and by that, they are saying Instagram). It is impossible to compare hardware with Galaxy S4, or even S3, but you have to keep in mind that the Windows Phone is not as heavy as an Iphone or Android.

I switched from Lumia 800 to 720 so I will compare it with 800. Design: 720 feels much lighter and its edges are rounded so it is comfortable in hand. Build quality is great but in my unit the micro SD tray doesn't align seamlessly with phone body (not noticeable if you don't pay attention). Screen is much much better than Lumia 800 even though both have 800 by 480 display. 800's screen was PenTile I think. Camera is 6.7 mp but it takes nearly perfect images. Auto-focus is very fast in video but not fast in stills. Reception/Call quality 10/10. Performance is better than 800 but apps run slow on first launch which is expected. Afterwards I haven't noticed any lag what so ever. Battery capacity is 2000 mAh. I charged it upto 77% and after almost continuous use of camera, music player, web-browser, store and other apps including camera lenses, I have 22% left after 13 hours. OS is WP8 which I like a lot for its simplicity and uniform layout. Lots of cools apps from Nokia. Overall very impressive. Great value for money.
