Nokia Lumia 928

Verge Review

If a mobile operating system can go through a mid-life crisis, Windows Phone 8 might be there: Devices have been on the market since late last year, there’s no major revision in sight (yet), and OEMs — mainly Nokia — are now at the point where they’re ready to release another volley of hardware. So without a publicity boost from a new version of Windows Phone, that puts a lot of pressure on these new phones to be particularly good. And if Nokia has its way, that’s where the Nokia Lumia 928...

In January 2013, I bought the Nokia Lumia 822 and returned it the very next day. Skip ahead to August 2013 when I got the Nokia Lumia 928 - and I kept it for exactly a week before going back to my old phone.

Many of the issues I had with the Nokia Lumia 822 were fixed with enhancements and updates from software patches (including the most recent GDR2). But 3 issues remained, for me, that out weighed my pro and con list and influenced my return of the device until subsequent enhancements are made to the OS. Those issues were: email and text message syncing issues and image downloading in emails. After activating my 928 I didn't turn on my old iPhone 4 even once, but I still found that I missed some texts. Each email I would open required me to click on an image placeholder to download the images (no option setting for this yet). After deleting emails I would be forced to manually sync the email account for the emails to be moved from the inbox to the deleted item folder when I open my email client. There were many suggestions in user forums on how to get emails to sync correctly, but either they didn't work or manually syncing began a chore.

After returning the device, I found my self right at home on my iPhone 4. The screen seems much to small now, but everything seems to work just as I like it to. Am I an Apple Fanboy? I don't think so. I'd be willing to try Windows Phone again after some more enhancements and updates. I just read early today that Microsoft has purchased Nokia's device and services divisions and I am excited to see what is in store in the future.

    Great Phone
Bad rep from the verge for call quality which I have not noticed.
I have had 2 battery rundowns ( Turn off GPS if it gets hot)
It also went black on me for no reason. Soft reset fixed it. Other than that literally perfect experience. I believe the Black screen happened because I plugged it into my computer the first time and I did not safely eject it.
