I've owned the SRH840s for a while now. I went on quite a quest to find a set of studio quality, noise isolating, neutral headphones for analytical listening. I started with the SRH440s and was happy, but wanted to experience a higher quality pair of headphones. The SRH840s didn't disappoint.
The memory foam ear pads form a snug seal around your ears, blocking out background noise. It also makes them extremely comfortable to wear. I've worn mine for hours at a time with no ear fatigue at all.
The sound quality for these headphones is fantastic. Very balanced. The highs are not shrill, the mids are very present and there is the perfect amount of bass. They aren't going to shake your skull, but if you want to hear music the exact way it was recorded in studio, these are the perfect choice. Mix them with a good quality Digital to Analog Convertor, or a sound card that has a solid one built in ( I use the Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Titanium HD) and you can't go wrong. A wonderful set of cans to get started with. It doesn't get much better at this price range in my opinion.
