Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1

Verge Review

“What can I do for you, David?” There’s a woman inside my Lumia 1020 who greets me every time I hit the search button. Her name is Cortana, and she’s very friendly. She keeps my schedule in order, she knows how long it’s going to take me to get to the airport, and she knows that thanks to traffic I’m almost definitely going to miss my flight so really why am I even trying? It’s okay, she’ll help me book another flight tomorrow. Oh, and she has a great idea for where I should go to dinner...

Its a great Mobile OS. I owned iOS and Android in the past, but nothing beats Windows Phone in design, simplicity, Performance and customizing. The often called App gap is nearly closed regarding the important apps and the store is growing each day. Combination with Windows 8 is great (syncing favorites, Passwords, Tabs...)

As a graphic designer and professional, the uniform design language, stellar aesthetics, and myriad creative and productive apps do it for me. The camera algorithms make photography easy and sharp, the Nokia apps take editing on the go to a new level, and having full Office isn't bad either.

The future looks so bright for Windows Phone especially with Universal Windows Apps! My windows Phone 8.1 review as follows:

The long awaited feature "Notification Center" , Quick toggles for Wifi, Airplane Mode, etc., ( I wish MS would let OEMs add more toggles like Android if they need to , like torch light) Voice assistant Cortana, Separate volume control for Media/App, Ringtone, etc., excellent word-flow key board ( again the keys should be squarish rather than vertically rectangle in my opinion because when you swipe/tap, your fingers cover more area horizontally than vertically..point to MS research team again.Typos are very minimal in iPhone keyboard in my experience) . IE 11 is wow..simply awesome now. Addition of Bluetooth 4.0 LE has opened doors to many fitness gadgets take advantage of windows phone platform. I admit most of these are "catch up" features compared to other mobile platform, hope it's time for Windows dev team to take pioneer roles now on.Good luck!

The only placee that need improvement for WindowsPhone8.1 is features and ecosystems. And even there, WP8.1 provide unique features (live tiles, hubs, overall UI feel). As for the ecosystems, apps are there, but they are not always on par with other OS or comes late. Also, I would like to see a better integration across all Windows platform, and I'm refering specificaly to the XBOX Music mess.

Still have some gaps. but overall WP 8.1 is a best mobile os to date.
Design is best, but some work still needed.
Still lack some features, for ex. - universal office app, app list improvements., Cortana languages and abilities.
Performance is near good, but still not best for 3rd-party apps
Ecosystem is OK, but many space for improvements

I love how simple Windows Phone is, and like that it is more customizable than iOS and smooth with almost no lags unlike Android.
With those great live tiles, I think the future of operating systems is there.
Windows Phone Need some more apps, but the main apps that I use every day are there like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Vine, Skype and WhatsApp.

This is one huge update. Let’s just get this out of the way. Windows Phone 8.1 could easily be called Windows Phone 8.5 or even 9. This doesn’t feel like a 0.1 update. This feels like a long-term project that Microsoft has been working on, delivering a massive set of new features to end users.
