What if phones actually bent to our needs?
We’ve been busy shaping our habits and thinking around our phones. But what would it look like if they shaped themselves to better fit our lives?
I got to check out Motorola’s concept phone with a bending display. Is it impractical? Yes. Is it cool as hell? Also yes.
I was allowed to put it on my own wrist with a special magnetic bracelet keeping it in place. Can you imagine just casually checking the time on your bendable slap bracelet phone in the middle of a meeting? The ultimate flex!

As we roll onward with hot foldables summer (with some big announcements near), Zack Nelson put the Motorola Razr Plus through his signature durability test. Is the Razr the most promising flip-style phone we’ve seen yet? Yes. Is it still quite fragile? Also yes.
But surprisingly, it’s not the inner display that died. It turns out there’s some empty space behind the Razr’s outer screen, and that gap was enough for it to crack and cave inward with some force applied.
(I still want one of these things all the same.)

Motorola Moto G Stylus 5G (2023) review: welcome to bloatware hell
Oh, the apps you’ll uninstall.
Get a look at the new Motorola Razr Plus, its 3.6-inch cover screen, and the Magenta color option in this quick hands-on video with the foldable phone that’s launching later this month.
And check this page for updates on the Razr line, plus all of the new foldable phones we’re expecting to see for the rest of 2023.
The Motorola Razr Plus’ new cover screen is a big deal
Moto is adding two new foldables, led by the Razr Plus. Its 3.6-inch cover screen makes it more than just a nostalgic tribute to your favorite 2000s flip phone.
Leaks have shown us what to expect for the next Razr and its external display, which should have some competition in the flip-style folding phone race.
Now a tweet from Motorola shows we should expect a full launch on June 1st. But the most interesting part might be the quote tweet from Motorola US (via 9to5Google), which is another suggestion that, unlike its 2022 Razr, this year’s model might be released in the US.
Lenovo executive Chen Jin has confirmed that the upcoming Motorola Razr foldable will have a 3.5-inch cover display.
That’s bigger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 (1.9 inches), it’s bigger than the last Razr (2.7 inches), and it’s even bigger than Oppo’s recent Find N2 Flip (3.26 inches). Here’s hoping Motorola’s software makes the most of the screen real estate.

It must be MWC, because every old mobile grievance was revisited, even as we celebrated what is surely our phone of the future, Motorola’s rollable Rizr concept.
We also dug into Alex Heath’s big scoop exposing Meta’s hardware roadmap, TikTok’s unsettling new filter, and talked a little about Elon Musk. Not too much.
As well as Lenovo’s rollable laptop concept, we also checked out a phone prototype from its Motorola subsidiary. The company called it the “Motorola Rollable” in our demonstration, but it appears to be called the “Rizr” if the name printed on the rear of the device is anything to go by. That’s a nod to Motorola’s sliding feature phones from the mid 00s. Find our full thoughts here.
Just when we were getting used to foldable phones, tablets, and laptops, these concept designs suggest rollable screens are in the near future, ready to extend the view by a few more inches when you need them to, without taking up more space in your pocket or bag.
Jon Porter is at Mobile World Congress 2023 this week and can show you Lenovo’s rollable screen laptop plus its Motorola-branded rollable phone.
The Motorola ThinkPhone, which just got announced at CES, is a serious business phone for serious ThinkPad users. But what’s up with those rounded corners? Commit to the bit!
