The Verge Mobile Show will return next week

In a twist of cruel irony, this week's deluge of mobile news will prevent us from conducting our usual hourlong seminar on all things mobile. Fear not, however, as next week's Verge Mobile Show will still take place at the usual time and variety of locations. And since there'll be two weeks' worth of Windows Phones, BlackBerrys, and Android updates to talk about, you can probably expect a special bumper edition.

BlackBerry's biggest event of the year kicks off today, and we're here in Orlando, Florida to cover it all. Formerly known as BlackBerry World, BlackBerry Live may have a different name, but it still promises the be the place where BlackBerry reveals its plans for the next year or so. Now that the company has actually launched two BlackBerry 10 devices, what will its next step be? Will we see the oft-rumored lower-cost BlackBerry 10 smartphone? Will CEO Thorsten Heins do an about face on his stance on tablets and reveal something we don't even expect? How many times will we accidentally write 'RIM' when we meant to write 'BlackBerry' during the live blog? Tune in at 9AM ET / 2PM BST to find out the answers to all that and more!

Introducing Verge Video

Today, we're thrilled to announce the launch of a major new component of The Verge, a home for all of our video content dubbed, appropriately, Verge Video.

The site is a vast collection of all of our video content, including original shows, feature stories (what we like to think of as mini-documentaries), and lots of other exclusive video. That means you'll be able to find all the Vergecast, Top Shelf, On The Verge, breaking news, event, and feature video content you can handle, conveniently arranged into smart channels that make it easy to see more of what you love. We also put a focus on the viewing experience, designing pages that get out of your way when you just want to watch.

The new hub has been painstakingly built from the ground up by our brilliant Vox Product team, and uses the freshest farm-to-table responsive design that money can buy. Put simply, Verge Video adapts to whatever platform you're viewing it on — be it desktop, tablet, or phone — giving you a great experience in any situation. We're especially excited to show off this new work because it's really just a taste of things to come for The Verge.

Like everything we build, we want the Video hub to be an iterative project — version 1.0 if you like. We'll be tweaking, refining, and adding functionality in the future, and incorporating feedback from you (the reader!) on how we can improve our work. And if you don't see a video you're looking for, don't worry: it's coming. It's just going to take a little while to backload all of our content into the hub.

So get in there, check out what we've done, and let us know what you think. We feel like we've finally given a proper home to the amazing video our team has been creating, and it's only going to get bigger and better from here.

We're pleased and incredibly proud to announce that The Verge has taken home five 2013 Webby Awards, as voted on by the good people of the internet (and also regular people too, we assume). Those awards cover Best Writing (Editorial), Best Visual Design (Function), Best Consumer Electronics Site, Best Podcast for The Vergecast, and Best News App. In fact, we won every category in which we were nominated.

It's hard to overstate how thankful we are to all of the readers and fans who turned out to vote — we had some incredible competition such as TED, The New Yorker, and Flipboard. It means the world to us that you thought we deserved the prizes. While we can't share the awards personally with everyone who voted, we will be lifting a glass in your honor. Perhaps several.

But before that, a simple thank you. We literally couldn't have done it without you.

Paul Miller returns to the internet, live on Tuesday April 30th at 11PM ET

Paul Miller left the internet for a year, and he's finally coming back. At midnight tomorrow, he'll plug back in after 365 days away, capping his experiment by returning to the connected world. Is he a new man? Ready to return or dreading the web? We're having a special late-night Vergecast that kicks off at 11PM ET on April 30th to celebrate the occasion, followed by the debut of Paul's personal story of disconnecting and a livestream discussion of his return.

It's going to be big, and we hope you'll join us.

The Verge partners with The Tribeca Film Festival for 'The Future of Film Live' April 22nd-25th!

We are proud to announce a partnership with the world-renowned Tribeca Film Festival for its second annual "Future of Film Live" series. Join us for a wide-ranging series of talks with some of the biggest names in the industry — moderated by our own Joshua Topolsky. Over four days and seven conversations, we'll explore all aspects of film, from inception and creation to distribution and discussion. How will cinematography evolve? How will we embrace non-linear narratives? Is film as we know it dead?

Guests include A.O. Scott (The New York Times), Nate Mitchell (Oculus Rift), Dan Connors (Telltale, The Walking Dead adventure games), and many more. Additionally, Chris Hardwick (aka "The Nerdist") will moderate a day of conversations with Morgan Spurlock, the Safdie Brothers, and more.

"The Future of Film Live" runs from April 22nd through 25th at 92Y Tribeca. It's free and open to the public, but you have to register online (starting April 10th) to attend.
