New Motorola VP of product Punit Soni has pledged on Google+ to improve the company's poor track record of supporting its devices with software updates. Specifically, he calls out Droid Bionic owners as having gotten a "raw deal" and says that a plan is still in place to update the phone to Android 4.0 — it was supposed to happen in Q3 this year, but with only a few days left on the calendar it looks like that deadline will be missed. Motorola has updated its device roadmap to state that the Bionic will now be getting Ice Cream Sandwich in Q4 along with the Droid Xyboard 8.2 and Xoom Family Edition.

Motorola's budget Android tablet option — the recently-announced Xoom Family Edition with 16GB of storage on board — is available from Best Buy today for $379. Running Android 3.1, features include updated styling, a "licorice" color scheme, and a handful of family-friendly bundled apps (hence the name). Granted, 16GB isn't enough space for everyone, but you've got microSD expansion available — or alternatively, you can still grab the Wi-Fi-only version of the original Xoom with 32GB of internal storage for $499.

There's not necessarily much that's "family-friendly" about Motorola's testosterone-laden Xoom tablet, Honeycomb's marginalized forerunner, but apparently families love deals. Motorla is releasing a 16GB version of the Xoom, which includes a few pre-loaded games (including Sim City!) and other family-friendly apps, for a $379 pricetag that mom, dad, and even little billy and susan can appreciate. The price-slashed tablet should be coming to Best Buy stores tomorrow, but with the Motorla Xoom 2 being leaked, Amazon's Kindle Fire about to ship, and Ice Cream Sandwich on the way, families are going to have a lot of options pretty soon.
