I’m not suggesting Brazil is not a good performer, I’m saying that Brazil is not the best performer, for reasons that don’t make a difference here. I’m sorry, all your charts are proved useless by lisandro.vaccaro statement:
I live in Argentina, I don’t know if you do, I don’t care. I can tell you first hand that we are losing jobs, I know a number of owners of big companies and everyone is downsizing. I have friends whose companies were partially closed (as in working only 3 days a week) to cope with the lack of demand. If you believe the charts you are doomed, all information from the state of the country is tainted by the goberment who is actively blurring statistics to it’s gain, they bully tv channels through legislations and currently own more than 70% local tv channels.
Also, I’m not arguing liberal policies are superior, 1929 would prove me wrong, I’m not promoting anarcho-captalism or anything like that, I’m just saying that it is indeed necessary to maintain a certain level of economic freedom so the market can provide to consumers what they want, would people rather have, for example, the U.S with iPhone’s and powerful computers while the rest of the world was still on dumb-phones and computers that take the whole building to work?

I don’t care about your morality play
You are right, let’s forget about all the moral rules that go by, let the mess begin.
Argentina’s economic performance has not been perfect, but is the best by far in the region, and among the best in the world, that’s not debatable, that’s just stating facts.
It is easy to say so when comparing it to Brazil, take last year’s numbers for growth and you will see Chile outperformed Argentina, from 1998 to 2008, Peru’s economy was the best performer in the region.
Moreover, opening markets willy-nilly has proven to be a disastrous policy except for maybe two or three countries, very small islands that are trade ports (Milton Friedman’s famous shock therapy was an overwhelming disaster).
The thing is, Mercosul is no willy-nilly solution, it is not overly liberal, it makes South America a good environment for growth for the participants.
Moreover, developed nations constantly push small nations into open their markets and embrace free trade while applying protectionism at home (the worst offender being the US).
This is why the deal is called Mercosul and does not involve the U.S.

I forgot to mention the last part of it,and the whole crisis that went down the ruralist debate did not influence the economy by any means, the protests don’t have a reason to be as the movement for elections in Brazil back in the day had no reason to be.

So you believe that it is perfectly acceptable to take advantage on reduced taxes for exports, which from my point of view is the most important part of having Mercosul, while you impose to others different rules. Uneven playing field to say the least? It’d be a good idea for you to call the Argentinian people and tell them that all they are living is bullshit, that it is all a big lie, people are not losing their jobs, the country is working perfectly well and Cristina Kirchner is going to be the second woman to win the economics nobel.

So you are basically stating that the index fails to illustrate the mummification that has been done to the market in Argentina simply because it is on Heritage Foundation’s website? Let me ask you something, would you invest your money in Argentina?

but has also been the economic performer next to China for 10 years on a row
Argentina has created a black market for dollars, the unemployment has been rising for a while and last but not least, have been imposing trade conditions to other countries on Mercosul and last but not least a quick quote from MercoPress
bq. The alleged sale of assets in Argentina was involved in a minor controversy because a businessman close to the Kirchner family, Cristobal Lopez had announced one of his companies Oil Combustibles, had purchased a 51% stake, allegedly for 800 million dollars.
This triggered an immediate reaction from the Argentine opposition which demanded to know the origin of the funds of Cristobal Lopez who among other businesses has several licensed casinos, courtesy of former president Nestor Kirchner.
I see this more as a good what not to do study case for economy majors.

Its not about the specs. The features, they just don’t click, it looks like a bunch of bloatware from the user perspective. I’d much rather buy a Nexus phone if I were to go android, something as small as the default fonts on a Samsung phone bothers me so much I can’t help but putting it down.

The fault lies on the government, the statism that is imposed by the republics only serves to breed corruption and mess up the economy.

This is the problem, Argentina is one of the lowest south american countries in the economic freedom index and that reflects on the economy, just for the sake of comparing, the place where you are economically free is Hong Kong. Check the heat map: http://www.heritage.org/index/heatmap
