Maybe not a 1000 years, maybe 5-10. There was too much lore you’d be discarding. I’d rather see how everybody was affected after the Dominion War, the fall of Romulan Empire, the Borg and the rise of the Federation as the largest super power left. There was so much political stuff going on there.
You only have to read, then watch Fight Club to realise the movie ending is better and therefore void your previous statement.
Comics can do what they want as it’s a universe owned by one company, Marvel. Not true in the movie world, different characters owned across different studios, compromises have to be made.
What you’re arguing for is tiny in the grand scheme of life. Look at Iron Monger, killed off after one movie, but a bigger character in the comics, bigger controversy there if you’re going to complain about something.
Enjoy your comics and enjoy what is a decent trilogy. It’s not like the movies cancel out or override the comics.
Don’t get your panties in a twist dude, what works in a comic doesn’t always work in a film. I mean, America has a robot called “War Machine”, why not slap on some of the US patriotism? It makes perfect move sense.
