I wonder why The Verge failed to mention ‘the other half,’ the modular design which makes this phone possibly way more interesting than only the surface. Is it a qwerty keyboard? Extra battery? Camera module?
The fact is, people are going to look for alternatives, especially people like me, who only use a very limited set of adobe programs for a limited set of tasks. Sure, Adobe will make the same amount of money, simply because a lot of people admittedly pirate the creative suite right now. But once enough casual users start looking elsewhere, they will lose out in the end is brand recognition, and “photoshopping” will cease to be an expression most people would understand. And simply because CS is wildly pirated at the moment, a lot of people know how to use it from dabbling around with it on their home pc. Once that mindshare is lost, businesses and schools have to invest more in formal training, which makes things way costlier than a simple monthly payment.
