I tend to agree. I like Windows Phone 8’s modern UI and quality feel. iOS7 tries to emulate some of that, which I think is good — it makes iOS look modern for the first time since 2007.
But I think they missed it on the quality feel, due to iOS7’s lack of a consist design language. While Windows Phone has a very fluid experience from one screen to the next (because similar elements are presented similarly), you’re never quite sure with iOS7 whether to expect the next screen to have pure flatness, gradients, 3D bubbles, a Rolodex, frosted glass rainbows, circles/squares/rounded squares or what.
Overall, I’d call it an unsteady step in the right direction.

Problem is, iOS still looks like it’s stuck in 2007. As an iPhone owner, I’m very much looking forward to Jony bringing it into this decade, visually.

By default, the one in focus has a colored border & title bar. All others are light gray.
But I was a fan of the active window shadow.

I fully agree; I do like the blur effect there! My only wish is that you could apply a slight blur — even its lowest setting is heavily blurred.

Looks exactly like the Start Buttons I’ve been adding to my Win8 & Server 2012 boxes since last October! But I guess you could only go so many ways with that.

Also, I think adding your desktop’s wallpaper for the Start Screen is a good thing; I do find it less jarring , as the article says (I’m using Decor8 for that now). Works best with a somewhat plain wallpaper though; it’s too loud otherwise. Of course, the same goes for regular ol’ desktop icons on a busy wallpaper.

OK. But that still sounds like a good trade-off to me, as storage fills up far more quickly with videos, music and pictures than with apps.
I don’t have my tablet handy, but on my 32GB iPhone, I’ve got 28.4GB of usable space. It breaks down like:
19.0GB of media
4.5GB of apps
4.9GB free
Not sure what I’d do with 8x that many apps (what the WinRT tablet allows for), but with virtually unlimited media storage, it’d be great to bring along my whole digital movie collection to entertain the kids on long trips.

You’re right, the ad should reflect usable space. So add a 64GB micro SDXC card to the VivoTab ($50 at Amazon for SanDisk Ultra). Then change the ad to reflect usable space:
iPad: $699, 59GB
Windows 8 Tablet: $499, 100GB
