Please, go read “The Windup Girl” by Paolo Bacigalupi. It talks about a dystopian future as a direct consequence of things like seed patents (which are distinct from genetic modifications!).
Meh, the only people who will miss out on this are kids who pirate it just because it’s what everybody does. There are plenty of free and / or cheap alternatives for those of us who are not professionals. With that said, this type of licensing is a step backwards for software freedom!
