Oh… and there’s also picking and choosing which stats to focus on through your equipment… So while you can’t put points into your stats… you can still do it through picking and choosing equipment…. It actually makes a huge difference… and unlike point allotment… you can always change things up dramatically…

Once you get late into the game…. the customization comes more from setting and choosing your skills and runes….
The nice thing about the set up is that it encourages experimentation.
As a Wizard… I can try going for my close range combat… focusing on armor and shield abilties and close-range spells…. or go for more range…. utilizing teleport and mirror image… etc… Or I could try experimenting with lots of AOE spells with time bubbles…
Honestly… once you unlock a lot of the skills… I feel like there’s more than plenty to play around with and customize…. At least with my Wizard character.

I think what many people are forgetting…. are the problems involved in not putting in the online mode even for single player….
Problem 1: If they made an offline-only single player mode… Then they would have to restrict you from ever bringing that character online… it would be too easy to hack and manipulate that character and ruin the games economy…. Look at what happened to Diablo 1
Problem 2: People usually fault DRM as being inconvenient and pointless… as hackers just end up circumventing the DRM anyways… But at least with the MMO style DRM system like this… it becomes incredibly difficult to pirate the game… They basically would have to open up private servers and make the game work through that.
Benefits: Cloud based game saves means you never have to worry about losing your progress and you can log in and play from any computer with the game installed. A Better managed economy. And consistently being able to interact with the community.

I think a couple days worth of server issues due to a huge amount of people logging in on once doesn’t justify lowering the score… They were very quick to work out and iron out all the problems with the servers…
I personally haven’t had any issues since launch day…

First of all… I believe these lines are a response for shareholders… whenever a company spends money.. they basically have to justify how it’s good for business….
A company like foxconn and Apple.. can’t simply tell their shareholders… "Oh… we are just going to spend the money because it’s the right thing to do…. We may lose profit… and suffer loses… but it’s the right thing to do… "
And in the end… they ARE doing the right thing… I mean really…. how much more pessimistic and negative do you need to be?

I always felt like jailbreaking makes my devices feel “buggy”.
And I’m just not comfortable with the jailbreak marketplace… I feel like it would be too easy to get a trojan in some kind of “useful” app…

Do you really think the seatbelt law is a bogus law? I think that’s nuts.

Statistically the accidents have gone down in California since the law was incanted. While it is true that anything you do that takes away your attention from driving can be a distraction, holding your phone is also one of them.
Fun little sidenote: they had an episode of myth busters that compared drunk driving to talking on your cell phone.

But I wonder if the PS3 and some other players can do it through a firmware update.

I think it sort of makes sense for M$ to be better at security…. they’ve HAD to deal with it a great deal more… More experience…
But it’s likely Kapersky’s comments fall on the side of exaggeration and fear-mongering… “You’re security isn’t very good! Better come buy our product to stay safe!”
