I still would like a way to sort by who is online. If one of my friends is not in Gmail or whatever, it’s usually just as easy to send them a text message, and I know they get those right away.
I noticed the greyed out picture thing, but it doesn’t appear to sort my list by who’s online first, then by offline contacts, which is all I want.
Something I noticed today: When I got a chat/hangout message, it went straight to my phone but did NOT show up on Gmail until I clicked on that person’s name in the chat box. Previously, a chat message sent to me would pop up in both places.
Minor bug: no word wrap on composing Hangout messages from Gmail, so words that wrap to the next line get cut off and look wrong, but when you send the message it wraps correctly.

I had a Windows Phone and loved it. I’m on Sprint, and they don’t have them right now. I couldn’t wait to upgrade so I ended up with the HTC One. I really miss Windows Phone’s simplicity, Office and Xbox integration, and just the innovative and different way it looked. But this phone is awesome and it’s slowly eating away at my sadness. I checked every day during the 14-day return period to see if Sprint announced a new phone, and now that it’s too late, we are getting used to each other. Maybe in two years when I’m up again I can switch back to a great Windows Phone—I sure hope so.

I had a Windows Phone until last week, and I let it send me whatever notifications it wanted. I typically only replied (tapped on the banner) to text messages. I would swipe the others away if I was busy and read them later. I kept email (Gmail separate from my other two accounts, which I combined) live tiles so I could see unread message numbers.
I got an Android phone last week, and I am still confused by the notifications. I know right now that calendar reminders and SMS messages are making noise, but Facebook only vibrates. CNN was sending me breaking news updates—I think it was making a noise. I am having a hard time hunting down the individual settings and tweaking them for every single app. I will say that having the pull-down thing at the top to see what’s new is nice, though I wish it gave e-mail previews, as most of my non-Gmail messages are junk.
I’m generally in agreement with other comments: I am not important and don’t get many notifications, so I pretty much let apps send me whatever they want.

Mass Effect 3 or Splinter Cell: Conviction. I could play either of those forever and be content. Bonus points if I’m trapped on the island and can still access multiplayer. :-)

The Bing picture of the day is usually really pretty, but that one is exceptionally good!

Wow these are all beautiful! On my work laptop (which I’m writing from) I have the standard Windows 7 background with the big Windows logo on it. On my personal laptop (Windows 8) I have this custom them I saw online a few years ago that downloads the Bing picture of the day but rotates from all the downloaded images every 30 minutes.
I’m not creative enough to roll my own wallpaper like some of you!

I also love the SkyDrive integration and it was was worth my $10. It has a nice look and feel to it too—feels more modern somehow. OneNote 2013 is nice. I think it’d be worth the upgrade…I upgraded from 2010 and thought it was easily worth the money.
If you have a Windows Phone, you hit the SkyDrive jackpot, but there are apps for other devices too.

Hi, it’s me, the original poster. I had heard the rumors posted above about various Windows Phones expected to be announced on Sprint, I had seen Sprint’s “Coming Soon” page for Windows Phone 8 devices, and I even tweeted @sprint and @sprintcare to ask about it (all I got was a boilerplate “nothing to announce now”).
The rumors online—and I am fully aware that these are rumors and may not pan out—were what was posted above: a mid-range HTC phone (please don’t let them call it the “tiara”…) and the Samsung phone. I am willing to purchase a high-end phone, so even though I like HTC that was a no-go. From what I could find online about the Samsung phone, it isn’t exactly “new” anyway. I wasn’t very impressed.
There was a thing going around where HTC would pay you $100 if you pre-registered for the HTC One and bought it and sent them your old phone. I signed up for it a while ago as a backup plan. The deadline I was given in the e-mail was April 30th (I saw on The Verge’s homepage they are doing this promotion again), and since I have been off-contract since April 1st, I went by the Sprint store earlier this week and picked up the One.
Don’t get me wrong—the One is an awesome phone. I’ve never owned a phone so nice! It does everything I will ever want it to and then some (Google Now told me on Friday to expect a delay in my commute home—it has been stalking me). But I really enjoy the simplicity and Zen-like nature of Windows Phone. I’ve got two weeks to take it back, so if Sprint gets its act together and announces these phones, AND one of them is a nice, high-end phone, I’ll take the One back without a doubt. If it goes past my return period or I don’t like the phone, I’m sticking with the One.
I have been a loyal, happy Sprint customer for many years, but the way they’ve handled Windows Phone has left me disappointed.

Yahoo is just my junk mail account, so if one of them won’t work well on Android, that would be the one. I figured Gmail would work fine, and you’re right about Microsoft having to support other platforms, so the Hotmail account shouldn’t be a problem. I do hope my calendars will all synchronize well.
You make an excellent point about later selling the One if a Windows Phone I like comes out—I hadn’t thought about that!
I have been watching reviews of the One online and it is definitely impressing me so far.

Rhonin: It’s interesting to hear that you have mostly Microsoft services and didn’t have any issues setting up on Android. That’s comforting. I am leaning towards giving the One a shot.

Edit: I could always wait and see if the Windows Phone rumors pan out. The “rumor” status makes me nervous though.
