We run battery tests with the phone as it is when it comes out of the box.

Wow. Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I don’t know how this didn’t come across in the review: I REALLY like this phone. If you look at my breakdown, without the Software score, it would be up there with our highest scoring devices. I’m quite likely to buy one as a second device once Sony release the 4.0 update.

I get that, but I don’t feel like I should care about Sony’s financials :)
There’s also the argument that releasing the S and P with Android 4.0 would’ve resulted in better reviews, which would (probably) result in better sales.

I don’t run stock Android on my phone, but it removes the process from the memory for me.

To each their own — I’m not a fan of the Xperia S’s plastic, and I found it unwieldy for a 4.3-inch device. I do agree with you on port arrangement though (as I pointed out the in the review).

Sony Ericsson usually prefer to release polished and bug free versions of their OS and I’m sure most people would appreciate that and would not mind waiting a few weeks for an update when it’s ready.
I understand what you’re saying — but why not wait a few weeks and release the phone when the software is ready?
Where is the full specs btw?
If you click on the product name it’ll take you to the product listing, from there you can find the full specs. Hope that helps.

275ppi isn’t quite at the bleeding edge of screen density, and the screen doesn’t blow you away, it’s just very, very good — I have seen better though.
As for the design, I think I described my issues pretty clearly. Visually, the headphone socket and port arrangements are a bit of an issue for me. The use of plastic in the lower portion of the phone is also not quite up to scratch. Couple that with the slight imperfection in terms of ergonomics and I think a score of 8 seems right.
For reference:
7. Very good. A solid product with some flaws.
8. Excellent. A superb product with minor flaws.
9. Nearly perfect.
10. The best of the best. Perfect.
..
So, the Xperia P is slightly closer to ‘very good’ than ‘excellent.’ I think that’s fair.

Interesting — can I ask why?

I’m sure we’ll take a look at Sony’s ICS offerings in detail soon. Personally having no Gmail widget, Chrome beta, or the multitasking menu is enough to drive me crazy.

Very interesting — my review unit was direct from Sony — did yours come from a Swedish carrier?

Exactly. A quick way to remove tasks from memory is useful.
Menu key > Settings > Applications > Running > Click app > end task.
That’s not exactly intuitive.
Ice Cream Sandwich: Multitasking button > swipe. (Samsung / LG have similar implementations in their Gingerbread skins).
iOS: double tap home, hold, click. (I’m jailbroken though, so it’s double tap home ‘kill all’).
It’s a fair complaint in my opinion, and if it doesn’t bother you, you’re welcome to disregard it!

Send to Kindle was introduced last June. Clicking “Send to Kindle,” appropriately, sends a single article to your Kindle. Readlists allows you bundle together as many articles as you choose and send them to your Kindle, and collaborate with people on the curation of the collection.
As it supports the ePub format, you can also send it as a book to almost any e-reader other than the Kindle. A good example of how it could be used can be found on The Verge. You can add together a ton of articles on one subject (say, Paul’s “offline” features), and send them to your ereader as a book called “Paul Miller: Offline.” As more articles arrive, you can add them to the bottom of your list, and by the end of it you’ll have the complete collection in one book. Each article comes up as a chapter, meaning you’ll have an index of sorts as well.
Hope that defines the concept for you, and apologies if it wasn’t clear in the article.

Readability has had send to Kindle for an awful long time — this is a different thing.

I think AnandTech, made it even more clear that if graphics are a concern, you’re better off with a with an IntelVidia solution. Best of both worlds.
