You’re right, The Verge was good but now it’s a piece of crap… If I were you, I would stop paying for it!
Oh wait…

I just paid for a Pro account and was feeling a little cheated by Ms. Mayer, so I went to Flickr. You can keep you Pro account with unlimited storage, ad free and stats or you can cancel it now and get you pro rated money back. Nice move (though I’d prefer a love night with Mar… ops, better keep it to myself…)!

The visual is amazing!!
But… Well, I don’t wanna be that whining guy that complains about everything… But…
I prefer the youtube video player. The experience/UI fells smother, with details like being able to pause by clicking anywhere on the video and less buffering (it suck to live in the third developing world). But I understand that maybe it’s easier/better to monetize your own player. I’m not paying anything (at least I disable the ad blocker), your content is outstanding and you guys need to pay your bills, so I shouldn’t complain anyway…
Keep on rocking!

It reminds me of this stand up about a “new drug” called cheese. It consists of Tylenol PM and… Heroin!

I think David did a good job at both reviews! (but of course this is just my opinion, YMMV)
Since The Verge reviews are more user experience / personal, there’s an inherent bias on it, which doesn’t necessarily make them bad. AnandTech, in contrast, is a more objective/scientific review. Each style has its pros and cons.
What The Verge could do is have a “Battle of reviews” for the flagship devices, where, besides the main review, some other writes could add their mini reviews. This would help readers have a different perspective on the devices and compensate for the personal bias.
