Not an app, but I would love to see a better development environment for making Android apps. Apple and MS tools are far ahead.

Agreed. It would be like starting every iPhone article with a diatribe about how investors are fleeing Apple stock and how iOS is losing market share to Android.

The start menu did lose some functionality. There is no longer a frequently used program list nor a frequently opened file like for each app. IMO the pros of the start menu outweigh the cons though.
Mostly there is just a pop counter-culture. It makes about as much sense as redneck anti-intellectualism to me though. The complainers just look stupid.

I gotta admit, I haven’t touched my tablet since I got a 5 inch screen smartphone (S4). I still plan on using the tablet for web browsing (love my Metro IE) and the rare business travel, but that is about it. If I had a better browser for my phone I might not use the tablet at all anymore.
Hmmm… I could probably write my own browser.

I use both while doing my software development. Both work fine for finding the links I need 99% of the time.
Overall I favor MS as a company over Google (MS has way better dev tools), but both make great search engines.

I’ve written forum software that allows uploading of images. Its possible, but has a ton of issues that go along with it especially on a public forum.

First I would like to admit that I am very disappointed with the Verge’s Forum Post creation screen because I could not post any pictures of my Windows 8 for the post. That is simply because I could not figure out how to do it! bq.
Funny how most WinHaters will take confusing things like that in stride, but when they have to move the mouse 3 inches to shut down their computer they freak out and make hour long videos about why MS sucks.

I have an S4 and my wife has the One. The S4 seems like it would be easier to drop due to the lighter weight. Both make me nervous though. A gripy case is a must with either.

If that is the worst you can come up with then it must be a pretty great device. :P
Only one thing keep pissing me off when I pick up my wife’s One. The USB port and the power button are in the same place when the phone is flipped. So if you pick up the phone upside down, it takes a second to realize that the dark spot you noticed when picking it up was not the power button. This is made worse by the Cimo case cutouts looking identical.
First world problems.

I think this looks pretty awesome. My profession requires that I use some Win32 apps at remote locations. I originally got a Win 8 11.6 inch CloverTrail tablet for this. Turns out I enjoy using it more than my iPad and Galaxy Tab 2 even for tablety stuff. If I get a smaller tablet it will be something like this.

I prefer metro apps for things that I normally want full screen like a video player or an ebook reader. I also prefer the personalized start menu with tiles showing me important notifications at a glance. The start menu is way more useful than the static icons of previous versions.
That’s it though. I wouldn’t want to go back, nor do I see any need to bellyache over a few metro programs that I don’t use.
30 days ago on Is it just me, or do I have no desire to use a Metro app on a desktop...
