1. Generally works fine but WhatsApp will probably be very annoying because every time you start the app it will clear your playlist. So if you use WhatsApp you’ll have to pick some music to play every time you use your car. I’ve also had some weird problems with songs getting cut off about 3 – 5 seconds before they end, not sure what could be the reason. Apart from that it usually works fine and if you get SMS or a call while driving, the music will go silent and you can dictate an SMS reply etc.
2. Windows Phone natively supports Twitter and FB, however it’s just very basic functionality. For example if you open a contact or a group of contacts you can see all the latest FB and Twitter posts with just one glance. Of course there’s also apps that have much more capabilities than that. The messaging app natively supports Facebook messaging and you can switch between FB and SMS. You can also dictate SMS which is a nice feature, though I admitedly rarely use that.
If you text a lot you can also make the messaging app tile very large which gives you a preview of unread messages on the home screen.
3. I would definitely go with WP8 because that may get updated to WP8.1. For WP7.8 I wouldn’t expect any big updates in the future.

Yes I did, I also restarted IE afterwards. Have you checked the details tab in your taskmanager too?

Have you scrolled down a bit in your task manager? There’s a good chance that there’s another IE process in that list, especially considering that both of your screenshots show exactly 31% of total memory consumption…
