It’s been a long time coming.
The concept of points is to confuse customers so that they don’t feel bad about spending money. But it’s a system I hate because I’m always having to do some kind of currency conversion to know what an Xbox Live game cost in real money. When I go to the supermarket to pay for my groceries I don’t want to pay in ‘fun’ points, I want to know exactly what I’m spending. I much prefer knowing that a game cost 15 quid, no BS, no Lies, 15 quid. A switch to real currency is a good move.

Nice preview but why is a British man saying aluminium? Accept yourself for who you are Tom!

I don’t get the EA hate, it’s almost as if some people think they are an evil empire…

Good (and portentous) article Sam Byford – but should you be linking to the CAD blueprints? I know there is an argument to be made about free speech and I have no issue with reporting the story but why show people how to make it? If people want to find out how to make a Liberator gun, or roadside detonation device or pipe bomb let them search the internet themselves.

The price of an Illumiroom projector would likely have a high cost that mean only enthusiasts buy it, but it definitely could exist as a niche product. However the biggest impediment that I can see is the support it receives from the people who make the games.
Looking at the videos Illumiroom can expand the game world depicted on the TV screen so that a car driving of the edge of your screen will be seen to continue moving on to your wall effectively increasing a game’s resolution – this all takes extra processing power. Developers, even with the power of the next-gen, will not want to reserve processing power for a product that only a small percentage of the Xbox install base will own. Unless of course Microsoft have created a way to ‘cheat’ and depict the detail outside the TV screen with low processing overheads. Regardless I’d love to try anything that can increase game immersion and Illumiroom has the potential to do that.

This will happen. Yes Durex Fundawear will be a lot of fun for couples who are apart but want to ‘excite’ each other. But there are websites, i’ve heard, where people can pay to ask an adult model to remove their clothes so the progression of this service would be to actually stimulate the model from home. Imagine it “Use your iOS or Android app to make Candy cum!”

Yep, definitely. For me, it feels more natural because the movement of the stick replicates the head movement when looking up or down. But if I play a 2D fighting game or side-scrolling game then push up to go up rules apply. I guess it means that when I play a first/third person game I’m really putting myself in the position of the protagonist!
