Thinkpads T series are great. Worth every bit the extra cost over retail laptops sold in stores.
No gimmicks, proven designs, amazing keyboards, with solid and proven construction.
Always go for the better display. My son uses his T430 for engineering school (i7 with 12 GB, optional graphics cars and 1600 × 900 display) and reports it runs every heavy application they have with no problems. I have a T430 as well. The T430 is easy to maintain and repair compared with the ultra slim laptops IMHO. Order it with 4 GBs and buy more RAM later.
