I went from Pre on launch day to Arrive soon after launch, too. Those were both the kinds of devices I loved at that time.

I switched to Google keyboard on my Nook HD+ because SwiftKey was very glitchy and caused screen blackouts and freezing. So far so good.

Especially when googling. It was the same with Evo 4G and Evo 4G LTE (2 years later). A lot of google cross-results.

If you are right, then why (to repeat a question upthread) keep RT and WP8 separate? They both have trouble competing with Android on their own, especially RT. Clearly the die has been cast, but it’s very strange to see Google and MS battling over a nonexistent Chrome OS / RT market. I see mobile OSes getting more powerful with huge dev support.
Google needs Chrome OS as a stopgap between Android and full Windows, but MS has the power to squeeze Chrome OS in its cradle. Instead it creates a direct rival that is just as crippled as Chrome OS? I may be missing something but WTF.

Yes, but the point is, you won’t be doing that on RT.

Yes, isn’t this how iOS manages to serve both phones and tablets? I am ignorant on this, but Apple presents the obvious counterpoint to the notion that they can’t both share an ecosystem.

Strongly agree. This isn’t exactly Monday morning quarterbacking – a lot of people were saying this a year ago and earlier, questioning where RT fit in as a standalone OS option for consumers who also have dev-rich Android / iOS / WP8 to choose from on one side, and powerful Windows 8 / corp-friendly on the other.
Also in the “everything old is new again” dept.: like it or not, Microsoft is going to have to come down on tablet prices across the board to take the fight to Apple. And when it does, it (and its OEMs) may well end up holding the familiar high market-share, low-profit-margins title.

For your UI: Nova Launcher (I use) or Apex Launcher(many others use), together with Widget Locker. Icons (I use Sphere icons for pages and Minimalist icons for lock screen).
Lots of good recommendations here. I also came to Android from WP and it’s quite a playground. Enjoy!
