Holy crap. I just hope this means android becomes more webOS-esque.

The render artist would be me, and while I appreciate your criticisms I wonder what you might change. Instead of being immensely negative.
You would rather a camera next to the earpiece? Alright. You don’t like the thin space between the top and bottom of the screen? What should be there instead? Nothing? The aim was to make a larger screen while still keeping approximately the same dimensions. Since that was the aim, and I achieved that, I would say it’s anything but sloppy.
You might not like it, sure, but I happen to think it looks nice.

They could manage to fit a larger screen as described within basically the same physical dimensions as the iPhone 4/s.

I get the feeling you’re assuming that I’m a hipster who has parents that provide me with phones?
Jokes on you, jerk, my parents died re-entering the atmosphere on their normal-plastic Kyocera cell phones. Bet you feel really big now, huh.
In all seriousness, I’m sorry you’re so butt hurt about.. something or other…

Here’s to hoping the same holds true for a new line of iMac.
I’m still using my 11 Inch Macbook Air as my primary machine, I’d love a 27+ Inch iMac.

They’re a status symbol, that’s for sure. And why wouldn’t they be one? The public views them as the top of the mobile phone food chain. I’m not saying that’s accurate, I’m saying that’s just how it is.
Regardless, not all iPhone users are pompous. In-fact, many iPhone users like Android just as well.

For sure, and that’s a good thing. I’ve always liked the softness of webOS. The large typeface clock is pretty close to the unlock screen on webos. I’d support your choice to make this a real rom.

I feel like this would be abused. Part of the idea of having the icon on the homescreen is to be instantly recognizable as to what the App is.
Developers would make them gaudy and obtrusive, no doubt. Even though I feel the idea is good in theory.
Also, tapping a live icon to reveal a folder-like drop-down wouldn’t be any more useful than tapping the icon to open the app in use.

Sometimes things just go wrong, can’t really account for that, which I’m sure is why Apple finally relented in their design choice to enable App Switching and included the “hold for jiggle minus button” option.
They could have the same implementation, exact same results but instead of using just the application icon to represent the recently used apps, put an image of the application in a grid-like-view. They already save a jpeg of the last screen state when you switch an app that appears when you return to the application.
All I’m suggesting is that they show that image instead of the icon.

(Quick Mockup)

Let me be clear. I understand all of which you have just said. But this is all context sensitive. Don’t treat me like I’m a sensationalist for clearing out the applications; I’m referring to times when someone is having an issue with an app.
For example, if someone comes to me and says “My camera app isn’t working” the solution is to go in and close the camera app through the app switcher. There have been times where multiple games will not launch until you clear them out of this app switcher.
So as far as it being a completely useless cosmetic action, that’s not completely accurate.
I’m not positive why you decided to fire off on me, as I’ve read and agreed with your posts in the past, so this harshness seems a bit unfounded, but I’ll chalk it up to you possibly having a crappy day or something.
All of that aside, I’m merely saying that the method of task switching is inferior to other mobile OS on the market in design, not in implementation of what is running and what is not. double tapping the home button to pop up recently used tasks makes little sense when you could hit the home button once and tap the application icon in the location that it permanently resides on the homescreen. You might disagree, and that’s fine.

I’d like to reiterate what you said with #4. The keyboard is horrid on the current Zenbook. Whenever I have to touch one at work I get sad. Besides that the design is pretty clean.
The Macbook Air keyboard, however, is great.

Agreed. I am a much bigger fan of the gray/silver noise from OS X or Safari on the iPad. I’ve never been a big fan of the blue glass titlebars, either.

Really all they would have to do to please me is change the multi-tasking layout. I know more than a handful of (mainly older) users that don’t know about App Switching, and when I show them and start to minus apps they freak out like “Why are you deleting all of my things? I use those!” It’s not intuitive to use the current layout. Something expose or Mission Control-esque would do so much better. I miss webOS cards.

Excellent, I had a feeling they were those kind of cards.

They take various cover photos you’ve had and your Facebook information. Pretty nifty.

I see, interesting, although when you really look at what the charts show in comparison with how many phones are actually retained and reviewed it’s a bit skewed.
There’s no denying that WP7 is a nice OS, and the phones are pretty good (now)
But I think in terms of sheer volume applied to satisfaction Apple will remain on top for a considerable amount of time.
I think more than anything it shows that a lot of customers don’t understand Android very well. WP7 and iOS both are leaps ahead as far as common user friendliness.

I’ve not had a single problem during the first two or even three years of an Apple product I’ve owned (that I haven’t directly caused) But I’d suggest protecting your investment and getting a warranty. Apple Care, Geek Squad Black Tie Protection, Square Trade, anything over the manufacturer warranty.

I’m not jumping down your throat, but where can we see that the iPhone doesn’t have as high of a satisfaction rate as WP7?
Because my data would conclude quite the opposite.

What you don’t understand is that he just said he can do what you asked and then you ignored it anyway.
I’ve never once felt multitasking lacking on any of my iOS or Android devices.

The result is: Android wins for him.
It isn’t my opinion when I say a majority of people don’t understand how to use their Android phone. We are not the majority. Android is great for us, we get it. A normal user has a good chance of mentally shitting their pants when you try to explain to them how to get widgets on their homescreen (and it’s not even hard to do.) I’m not saying everyone doesn’t get it, I love Android, but let’s face the facts: iOS is much more approachable. The craziest it gets is wiggling icons on the homescreen.
I can’t tell you how many customers I’ve had to walk through the basic tasks of Android with only to have them tell me that they’ve had the phone for almost a year and never knew this, that, etc.

That’s a bit of a stretch. I’ve never heard of someone scoff like you suggest. And if someone you know has done that, they are a dick, and do not represent a majority of the iPhone users out there.

Well aren’t you a linear thinker; this is just a mockup, for fun. I’m not putting any weight behind it becoming the actual device.
That said: There have been spare parts “leaked” prior to releases before that never see the light of day. Also, Just because the screen is longer doesn’t mean the height of the landscape keyboard must increase with it. Shift, symbols, enter, space, could all elongate to fill in the gaps. You negative-nancy you.
Regardless, no one will know how it’s actually going to look until they unveil it or it leaks. Until then I’ll keep making mockups and you can keep shooting people down.
