If you add Apple, Dell and HP together the overall revenue is still up compared to Acer, Asus and Lenovo.

A great talent no doubt. Whether it is the iMac, all MacBooks, Apple TV, Airport Express, Extreme, iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch….all great designs in my opinion. His designs have truly defined the industry- whether you like Apple or not, their designs are indisputably excellent.

AirPlay for me. The next being the iTunes Movie and TV rental service followed by Netflix since I find the Apple TV UI implementation of Netflix to be the best.

Impressive bag! 2 DSLRs seems bit of an overkill. Otherwise nice choice on the gear.

It is ‘alleged’ Samsung sold more smartphones than Apple. What we do know for fact is that Apple sold more in terms of revenue amd profits. Samsung never disclosed how many smartphones they sold.
Samsung shares lost $10B in valie just on rumors that Apple might use another chip provider. The rest of the Android ecosystem is struggling like crazy right now.

First of all Apple has more money to burn than the Android ecosystem combined. Google just said in the Oracle trial they earn more from iOS mobile advertising than Android. Not sure if they lied about it, but that’s what they said.
Samsung is the only one that can take on Apple and they are.
Google just paid $13B for an albatross called – Motorola. Talk about Apple opening up a bag of hurt on Google!
Google is just hoping this Apple nightmare just goes away. The Android ecosystem outside of Samsung probably feels the same way.

Same applies to smartphones, computers and tablets. Right? I’d say the price ramge for laptops and desktops is even wider and Apple sells well north of 20 M units a year.

Apple Macs are best best selling products in every category of their market:
1. Macbook Air is the #1 selling laptop in the market.
2. Macbook Pros are the #1 selling premium laptops.
3. IMacs are the #1 selling desktop in the market.
In the consumer market Apple will do very well. People who buy stuff for themselves buy Apple, IT will continue to stay awayf from Apple as will people on very tight budgets.
But Apple has been able to sell over 20M Macs priced as $999 and up a year. My guess is that they will be able to sell the same number of TVs at $1,500 and up IF they have the content and software in place.
Even the current Apple TV has around 30% of the streaming devices market which places it far ahead of Roku and others. There is no segment where they compete in and don’t do well in.

I highly doubt it. Based on the current version of the consumer Win 8, it’s just too superficial to matter. At best it’s an iPad app. I doubt most people will care about the swiping from all directions and half swipe v full swipe etc. The native apps are still worse than on the iPad in my opinion. We’ll have to wait and see who’s right. Those who think like me or you…

Except Apple’s software upgrade was actually innovative with iOS5. Samsung did a straightforward copy of Apple’s services.
iTunes match, iCloud photo stream and Siri were all major software improvements. I didn’t see any of that with Samsung, even if they billed it as a major software upgrade.

A plastic Timex watch will do better in a drop than a Rolex. But I wouldn’t say it has better build quality. Plastic is just more durable if you drop it. That’s why some people get a bumper for their iPhone. Just saying…

I installed it last night. My impressions after using it are that superficially it looks nicer than the original music app in some respects, but overall it isn’t as good:
1. Does not show genius playlists that I created.
2. Whereas the original app hides albums without artwork when you open the app, this one will highlight all the holes in your artwork collection.
3. If you have lots of albums you are stuck searching by name or simply flipping.
4. Album art seems to start out badly focused and then gets clear.
5. Takes longer to load than the original app.
I feel I just wasted $1.99. In the end I found it simply gimmicky it doesn’t do anything better than the default music app.

Vertu is like a Rolex watch or other luxury item. In fact if you think about it, the prices aren’t even that crazy.
A 9×6 good silk oriental rug can set you back $50k, you can get a similar sized rug from Wal- Mart for $299. A Rolex can be $25K, yet an atomic watch (even more accurate than a Rolex) can be had for $200.
I used to have a Vertu ring tone. It was cool and free :)

Others happen to discount a lot more. Mostly due to poor product planning. You ship a lot to the channel then when you release new models (especially of you do it frequently) you have to discount to clear up stock…
So unlike Apple where everyone pays the same, with others different people pay different prices. So not sure who is screwing who more. But at the very least you don’t understand how business works and losing money doesn’t mean you’re giving customers a good deal. It mostly means your operations are just not as well run.

Google saw the iPhone went back to the drawing board and came back with iPhone for the masses. The started out wanting to be Blackberry clones and then iPhone clones.
Google did a big favor for Samsung and ate pretty much left holding a bag of hurt called Motorola that they paid $13B for and even got stabbed in the back by Amazon. But they do have wild activation numbers that generate next to no $ for them (at least that’s what they are claiming now, unless you believe they are lying about making no money….then could they be also lying about activation numbers? )
Tough call….
