. Both with outdated UI and not touch friendly, hence not allowing them to be used on hybrid devices.
And Hybrid Devices are selling like hotcakes?

Apple’s shares have been declining for some time now too.
Actually they have been going up this month.

In the near future it would be real sad to see Microsoft retreat almost entirely into the enterprise
Why would that be sad?
As for Apple, I strongly believe that this company will come last in this race. It solely relies on two hardware trinkets and an app ecosystem
Let’s see Apple makes what is generally regarded as the best Computers in the business, the best SmartPhone in the business and the best Tablets in the business. In addition Apple makes 45% of all the profits in Computers and 57% of all the profits in SmartPhones.
Are you confusing last with First?

Paul said he wanted an upright bike. A city bile is like the Dutch & English bikes above. Your suggestion look like a mountain bike.

We know that OEMs and retailers just love to order (and pay for) stuff they arent selling anytime soon.
They placed those orders months ago in the hope that Windows 8 would move hardware.
It hasn’t.

Not hard to find here, just expensive.
BTW London is not compact, it sprawls.
Cities like Amsterdam & Prague are compact. In Holland cyclists are an incredibly powerful lobby. Long range cycle paths are motor free and can be as wide as roads.

Bus/Tram return to the city here is €1.80, while parking is about €20, so a non-starter. Around town we use upright city cycles.
I find SUVs obscene & would tax them out of existence.

Frame, wheels, gears, brakes, lights & saddle to begin with. A good saddle can cost $160 & a good bike can last 40 years.

Sprung Leather saddles are great on cobblestones too.
Brooks are excellent saddles.

No one knows that. Shipped, not sold to end users

Microsoft may claimed units shipped, but shipped and sold to end users is different. The could all be clogging up the channel, sitting in boxes in warehouses.

I have never been able to understand how the 6 year old (with many iterative improvements) is stale, but the 20 year old Windows UI on Windows 7 is considered fantastic by the MS fans.

and yes im aware of how each company calculates it sales figures are different and those 60 million licences doesn’t means they are in the hands of people, but people aren’t MS customers…OEM’s and retailers are which have brought those licenses
This is due to churn and remember that Apple makes more Revenue from the iPhone, than MS does from all it’s products.

And I guarantee you for every single company you name who did something like that there are five signing contracts with MS licensing agreements…
Microsoft’s big thing is lock-in and crumbly IT managers. Happily these are nearing retirement age and being replaced by sensible guys who aren’t afraid of Linux. New businesses don’t want the hassle nor the expense of Windows.

For a large business the cost of an enterprise Office site license is somewhat trivial.
Actually MS licences can run to hundreds of pounds for each employee.
bq.
What business was that?
There have been many, for example Citroen bought 30,000 Linux computers.

if they’re already well-entrenched in Office. It just makes no sense whatsoever to move from a well-supported, stable platform to one that is unstable and does not have feature parity, not to mention requires more training.
Sense? How about cost?
The Economist reported on one business that went to Linux and Open Office. What was the cost of retraining the staff? It was the cost of the 5 MS licences on one computer.

Yes, Microsoft has made an OS that no one wants, a SmartPhone that no one wants and a Tablet that no one wants.
I suppose MS fans would call this a hat trick.
