Been pretty deep into all three major ecosystems at various points over the last 6-9 years. I’ve settled on what I believe is the best long term strategy, and overall best collection of services & devices. MS & Windows:
Current Setup
- Windows 8 workstation (powerhouse desktop)
- Windows 8 Laptop (built for Vista, will be replacing with a Haswell machine likely in Fall/Holiday Season)
- Surface Tablet for the Living Room & General Dicking Around (GDA) + trips
- Samsung Series 7 (running Win8) with dock, bluetooth keyboard & wireless mouse in the Kitchen.
- Lumia 920
- Xbox 360 + Kinect w/ Xbox Gold
- Xbox Music Subscription
- Office 365 Subscription
- SkyDrive 45GB (25GB + Office365)
- Microsoft Natural Keyboard(s) for my docked laptop & workstation
- Outlook.com email & Calendars
- Skype
- Zune HD (still use for camping, working out ect)
- Bing (I use both Google & Bing fairly evenly. Each has their strengths/weaknesses)

Yah. Nowadays there are PC laptops with trackpads pretty similar to MacBook Pro’s, but you have to search a little bit, whereas with Apple, all of their laptops will have good drivers/hardware/support for their trackpads.
High end Lenovo, Samsung & Asus machines tend to have pretty good ones now.

They definitely need to get blue out this holiday season, and release new flagship devices from Nokia & HTC along with it.

Whats with everything being bought for $1billion? This some sort of tax write-off threshold or something?

All WP8 devices will get 8.1/blue. The 920 is an excellent device, but if you don’t mind holding off, wait until the fall/holiday season for the next generation flagship line.

You may as well say since Windows is on 90% of machines, Apple should stop making OSX, and license Windows to install on their machines prior to shipment.
Webkit isn’t very standardized btw, and isn’t the end all be all. Even Google is moving away from it.
Just face it. Google is the biggest dick in tech, and their motto of “dont be evil” is a joke.

MS makes a lot for Android. Google hasn’t bothered one bit to give its services to 10’s of millions because they don’t want competition.
Android apps by MS:
OneNote
SkyDrive
Skype
Outlook
Xbox Smartglass
Lync
My Xbox Live
Halo Waypoint
on{x}
Bing…..
Its really irritating how google wont even make their biggest services like Maps & YouTube available for its customers (ad revenue) because they are on a competing mobile platform from Microsoft.

Yah, its getting a bit old. Its an amazingly built device running a VERY capable OS thats a pleasure to use, and has the best phone camera, audio recording and screen tech available on any smart phone. Apparently until Ballmer & Elop physically birth themselves out of the screen and stroke your wanker its not good enough.
