The video player is Ooyala, TechCrunch doesn’t actually use it anymore.

YouTube direct links won’t work here, they’re set to expire and may be tailored to your ISP.

SublimeVideo doesn’t support ads though. I agree, it’s a great video player… but until they build in advertising support, a lot of businesses won’t use it.

Awesome! Is there a direct link to the HD version, or any way to subscribe to the HD version in iTunes?

I’d love this option too, and I’d want it to include all articles. Not every article makes it to the homepage, some just stay in their “hubs”. I don’t want to check every hub for new articles, it would be cool if there was a way to see the latest stories from the entire site on one page.

The only benefit to having their own video player is that they can run their own ads. I thought they were going to partner with YouTube and share the ad revenue though , especially since they’ve moved away from the old video player and have really been pushing their YouTube channel.

Yeah, I wish they’d integrate Google Custom Search for The Verge posts. Then they could use Vox Media’s search for the comments, forums, and user reviews tabs.

That’s my most requested feature too! I just want my label colors to match what I’m used to on the web (or even in the Sparrow for Mac app).

I don’t see how maps can be such a huge feature, unless they add free turn-by-turn directions like Google. Hopefully the other iOS 6 features are a little more exciting!

I’d love to see a behind the scenes video on an episode of On The Verge showing all this in action, and what it takes to get an article on the front page of The Verge. And then how you can easily move it around and highlight it once it’s been published.
