Well, I suggest they start with bringing out an alpha build of BB10 with which you can make actual calls….
It’s quite ironic how the playbook had no e-mail and now the first build they show of they’re phone OS can’t even make calls… It’s like bringing out a prototype car without wheels…

Sending in my fart app right now… (I think that iOS has proven these apps are not useless at all.)

Agreed, but looking at all this, there are still a lot, a lot of missing pieces for BB10 to be a full fledged OS. The demo they showed was only focussed on the strong points of the OS and a lot of basic stuff (how DOES the multitasking work, i.e. app switching etc.) was missing. Of course, it will take a while before this is released, but if Windows Phone taught us one thing, it’s that the first iteration of a smartphone OS lacks a lot of functionality. (Truth be told, this is iteration 3.0 if you count the playbook versions, so let’s hope they learned from the fiasco that Playbook OS 1.0 was…)
The other problem is that a lot of innovation they did show off will probably be in iOS 6.0, Android 5.0 and WP8… Which will all be released at about the same time… So then you have 3 competing OS’es with a strong history and these functionalities.
But hey, time will tell, it’s nice toe see RIM innovative again and coming out with some really awesome and inspirational stuff!

No.
There is a functioning gmail client available which is the mail client Apple delivers with iOS.
But if you want the ultimate gmail experience then you need to root your phone., for now.

You do know that there is this one brand of phones, that is carrier subsidized, has no bloatware and receives updates worldwide 1 min. after the update announcement right?
So how come Apple, a company that has been selling mobile phones for only 5 years can do this, but all the settled 20 year in the business companies can’t….

Well, to put it in context. Nintendo sold 17.1 million 3DS’s (as of april 7th according to Wikipedia) since the launch in Feb. 2012.
Apple sold about 40 million iPods last year of which about half count for iPod Touches. That’s 20 million. Add to that 40 million iPads and don’t forget the +100 million iPhones since january 2011.
That’s almost +150 million iOS devices compared to 17 million Nintendo devices.
And that doesn’t even account for Android…
People don’t want to buy multiple devices anymore. They expect to do everything on one device. Why the hell would I buy a device just for gaming if my phone can deliver on-the-go gaming as well with games that are 40 times cheaper?

" the impending doom and gloom for Nintendo.. but guess what? It never transpires"
The $550 million dollar loss last year tells otherwise.
Trust me, I love nintendo, I’ve had a NES, Super Nintendo, GameCube and still have a Wii. But I would just love to play these games on the go as well. I have an iPhone and just don’t want to carry around another device just for playing games. It beats the whole purpose of being mobile.
I do want a Mario game badly, and I do want to play it on the go, but I’m not gonna spend money on a device just for playing games anymore. That is a 20th century thought, one Nintendo needs to realize… fast!

Mario to iOS and Android is the answer. Imagine if they would release it for $5. I bet it would be even more popular than Angry Birds. Say 20 million downloads = 70 million (ex Apple-tax) pure profit (it shouldn’t cost much to port it).
And that’s only one Mario game.
How cool would Mario kart for iOS be. Connect with each other or over apple tv. Of course, nobody would buy Nintendo hardware anymore, but they’ve been selling the wii at a loss ever since it launched.
Nintendo needs to become a game studio and stop making hardware. That’s the solution.
