Not a smart case, because then it is always on the device and not universal. What they need is a controller and unified Game Center ID.

You should not be buying Apple products. There are other tablets out there made for you.

So basically we disagree on the key factor, and there will be no changing that. I guess we are done here.

Your argument is a very simple one. I am taking it one step further saying that you do not use 30 degrees when you are viewing a screen. Every screen you view differently, so you cannot compare them.
TV, smart phone, computer manufacturers make different sized displays because people want bigger screens sitting in the same position!
Also your little pixels per degree thing is all marketing. If every screen were to take 30 degrees of your viewing, then the only thing that matters is horizontal resolution.
I am being open. I opened up to your post, it was wrong, so I am letting you know it is wrong.

Did you read my post? You just said the same stuff I did.
Your calculations only take in basic resolution as quality of display. That is just plain stupid.

Let’s say we have a 100 inch wide screen with a resolution of 2100.
Using your theory:
To achieve a 30 degree angle: 186 inches away.
Pixels Per Degree: 70
That means if the iPad was 100 inches wide and only 52 pixels larger, it would be a better display!!
Again, you are an idiot.

Wow I just realized how you actually did find your pixels per degree numbers.
You took the horizontal resolution and divided it by 30.
This means the only thing you think that matters is purely resolution. Wow. You are an idiot.

You just proved me right and yourself wrong. I’m glad you understand my argument.
I guess what I am saying is that no one uses there screens with a 30 degree viewing angle. 30 degrees is a great standard, but does not translate to real life use.
Math does not make a screen better, real life use does.
I don’t hold my iPhone 2 inches away from my face (even if I did, I still can’t see the pixels…).
Basically here is my argument: An iPhone is not a miniature TV or a miniature computer monitor. Therefore you cannot use the same standards for viewing degrees.
Also, TV’s, laptops, computer monitors are all viewed at the same distance, not based on degree viewing. This is why there is different sizes. If everything was viewed at 30 degrees then every screen would be the same size.

Exactly. The pixels per degree sounds great, but it does not actually work. iPhone screen > MacBook screen. There is no arguing this in real life, only in your formulas.

Oh and by the way, iPhones and iPads are mainly used in portrait orientation, so you need to move them even closer to your face. That would make the iPhone about 3 inches away from your face for your diagram. It would also make the pixels per degree like 15, which makes it pretty horrible.
Again, great idea in theory, but this does not translate to real life use.
It’s all about pixels per inch.
I would be happy to argue with anyone on this topic.

I read the post. Pixels per degree sounds good in theory, but logically it does not make sense.
There is no way you are going to tell me a MacBook Pro screen is clearer than an iPhone screen. I can see pixels on my MacBook, and I cannot on my iPhone.
The diagram and math are telling me I can see pixels on my iPhone easily since there is 30 pixels per degree and I can see up to 100. BS.

This doesn’t make sense. The iPhone has higher pixel density and is harder to see individual pixels.

You really do not understand Apple do you?
1. An iPad can handle a crazy high resolution, a MacBook Pro can handle it as well.
2. The optical drive may be used by some people, but not the kinds of people that buy brand new $1500 laptops. Those kinds of people have moved past CD’s.
3. Ethernet is needed when there is no wi-fi. Where is there no wi-fi where there are MacBook Pro users? If you want to use Ethernet at home at your desk, have an adapter. Do not tell me this is too much work. If the Ethernet cable is always connected to the adapter, then you are still only plugging in one cord.
Apple is always progressing forward when the technology is ready, sometimes even if there are some people that are not ready. But they would still rather have the better product than to make a very small group happy.

There is no reason for a tear drop design. It will be harder to hold, with less room for a battery and components.

The operating really doesn’t make a difference anymore. Everything can do pretty much everything. All it comes down to is if you want the new features and newest software or not. For me I think Lion’s features are great and it runs perfectly on my 2011 MBA.

I have one complaint: Two finger scroll on the keyboard should highlight, not go super fast through the text. If I want to navigate through the text quickly, I can scroll with one finger quickly.
Basically I just don’t want to have to hold a virtual shift key down to highlight.

Money is money. It does not matter what you are subsidizing, so my comparison is spot on.
And yes some people like would rather pay up front, which is why I said as long as they keep that system in place, this is a great idea.

So you would rather buy a $650 iPhone than buy it subsidized at $200. I mean, you are going to be using the service anyway, you might as well get the cheaper price.
If you said Microsoft has their pricing wrong for a subsidized device, then you would have been correct. But you just said subsidized game consoles are the worst idea you have ever heard. You are wrong.
Just to be clear, the reason the pricing is messed up is because they charge more for Xbox Live Gold on contract than they do by itself. If it is the same service, it should be the same price everywhere. The reason for a contract would be to get people in your ecosystem. If they have Xbox Live and an Xbox for 2 years, chances are they will buy a movie, Zune Pass, games, etc. This is where they would make their money.
Also, a reason the price may be $15 instead of the standard price is because they said they will be providing Xbox Live Gold as well as other television service, or at least that is how I saw it.
So, subsidized prices are good, they always are (if the regular price is also still available).

23 days ago on How an Apple Television may (potentially) be difficult to implement.

Apple TV should stay as a box. Then you can upgrade yearly. Not everyone can buy an Apple Television, but most people can buy a $99 box. Also one of Apple’s main markets is the college age. When you are in college, a lot of apartments already have televisions, or you bring your old one from home. As a college student myself, I am not going out and buying a $2000 TV to move around every year.
Apple products have a premium price, but they aren’t going to do something this stupid.

I have a good amount of apps and games and only use 6.5 GB. However, that is with no music, movies, and few photos. So if you are like me and use it this way, a 16 GB is fine.
I still got a 32GB just in case. Maybe in 2 years when it is time to upgrade it will be full.

But it does need a profile as well. Apple can just use Twitter as its posting system.

Yeah I get what you are saying. Apple has the network already, they just need the social aspect which is adding friends to a profile.
I mean they have iMessage, Game Center, FaceTime, email, iCal, iWork, iLife, iTunes, etc. They are just missing the profile that brings them all together. I’m sure it’s coming, but who knows when.
If you think about it, Facebook really doesn’t have anything proprietary against Apple. They have just put it together.

Sorry about that, so you just want to activate Siri through the watch. But when you are in front of the TV, why not just use your phone for Siri? Also when you are away from the TV and want to use Siri via the watch, when you are confirming what you want Siri to do, the interface will still have to be very condensed.
It’s a great idea, but it shouldn’t be taken too far.

I think it’s a great idea to mimic the pebble watch, but you took it a little too far. iPod Nano’s are small and would not make good controllers for a tv or thermostat or lighting. iPhone’s are much better for that in my opinion. Siri would also have to be very small to fit on the Nano’s screen.
