I’ve seen the indicator simply showing a lower “reading / display” than on other devices, but no actual change in actual connection.
If you’re honestly seeing one device pulling data down considerably faster than the other, in the same spot, the you may have an actual HW issue. As for the display, the “Strength” of the signal, this isn’t exactly a new thing between different devices.
My Kindle can pull a signal from any point of my house while other devices can’t. Although it consistently shows a lower signal strength than the other devices. Not necessarily indicative of anything.
But if you can tell an obvious difference then you may have an issue.
