I love the Jetman but it’s not ‘space age’ (I use the term anachronistically)
The 60’s seemed to open a new world of possibilities in science. No one could have predicted a lot of the advances we’ve made now, but they did predict stupid stuff. If they’d been right, we’d be living on Mars in silver Lycra, sleeping in oxygen pods, drinking fluorescent drinks, dancing with large plastic robots with stupid lights all over them and having recreational sex with holograms.
All we’ve got is the fluorescent drinks, and even then they were most probably referring to the aftermath of the Cold War. We’re not so far from those holograms though… ;) (sorry, that should be a disgusted face)

And if you want to talk about flying buses and the like use the BOHN posters XD

You electrolyse it. It needs a lot of electricity and is quite an endothermic reaction (takes in heat [read: energy]).
That’s why we get so much using hydrogen fuel cells to make water; the reaction there is very exothermic.
The same bonds are broken/formed so you just change the sign (+/-) for delta enthalpy

When I was a kid I thought conflict diamonds meant that Zao from Die Another Day became a super soldier because conflict diamonds were blown through his face. A lot of stories about mining and materials didn’t make so much sense to me for a while

I do love bigger screens; I fantasise about having a Note, but frankly (unless of course you own one and you can tell me, I’d be really interested) I always wake up and think that not being able to use it in one hand can only be a massive disadvantage. I’ve held one a few times in shops, that’s all I know, so if anyone can tell me what living with it’s like, that’d be nice

The MP4-12C is a technical marvel. It’s designed from first principles, not remotely borrowed from anything else. It’s a lesson in brilliant design.

The horizontal bezel is quite important until we nail palm recognition. My screen often registers my palm being cut into by the side of the device and therefore it ‘spilling’ onto the screen a bit. If phones get thinner then that’s a bigger problem, so the bezel will stay for a bit

I totally understand why Paul’s doing this, but I don’t see what he’s trying to prove by doing it for a year. Once he gets used to it, is he just going to slog it out until he gives up?

My point being that any system they develop should not be limited and made for the car. Existing software and OS should be adapted to make it more useful in a car

Frankly you can make as many great infotainment systems as you like, but they’re all proprietary and jumbled. I’m waiting to see one that runs on android – it’s about time to integrate all our electronic systems into a few larger OS ecosystems. Using a Merc’s entertainment system, although easy and efficient, just makes me shudder. It should be Android on my computer, Androidon my phone, Android in my car, Android on my microwave. Or any other OS, or a selection. I can’t stand it when in 2012 companies still design their own software for this stuff.
*One more disclaimer, even though I use Android, I don’t really give a damn. I’m gonna move to Win8 later this year
