Now that your disdain of the phrase has been noted, HP has vowed to double down on their efforts to use it less.

I’m still rocking my Sprint Palm Pixi and while I understand it’s pretty much dead, I just fucking LOVE it.
It has soooo many smart design moments that even to this day, iOS and Android UI feels unbearably clunky. Add in the fact that it is palm sized (lol) and that it has the best damn phone keyboard every made, even with the lack of apps I’m still ecstatic to use it.
and OMG, that touch stone charger. Yeah I hate that it dims so low when on it, but damn is it a smart design or what? The OS even auto configures to accommodate the touchstone.
TL;DR Yes, I’m still rocking my Palm Pixi and am quite happy with it :)

Also, I’d happily dual-boot into Chrome OS if it was more like WebOS. Maybe Google can deliver the promise HP can’t seem to get straight)

Of course Android will remain open. I’d still like to see some killer competition though between WebOS and Android once HP completes the transition for the mobile operating system with impossibly bad luck..

Hey I guess I can keep using gawker sites once the transition is permanent since Twitter won’t bother me.
Kotaku is in thin ice ever since they started that "programing schedule " . I thought I liked it but I avoid most articles now which is the opposite of what I want from my info wells.
Lifehakcer still has my interest, but I’m shopping for alternatives

What I said:
The same is possible on Windows
I never said it was default on the OS and if you bothered to read further I also said
I’ll give you that having it deault in the OS is awesome and Lion’s implementation particularly is pretty nice if you throw down the extra cash for a track pad
And if you’re going to act stupid with the faux incredulity, do you seriously think that the Apple version is magical and takes up no resources?
Hopefully the next time someone points out that you’re wrong, you’ll become a better reader and not have to ask a silly questions and point out obvious things that are true no matter what OS you are running.
PS: Mission Control is also a seperate App that auto launches on startup. It isn’t part of the MacOS and it takes up VALUABLE resources since you seem to care about that.

1. Apple has tons of drivers preinstalled on the OS nowadays, but that is only for common stuff. If you start looking into exotic peripherals like car maintenance tools, Mac support drops like rock and sinks into the sea.
2. Yup same here. Never got a virus on Windows or Mac. The “no virus” crap is that the new mac users trumpet is bullshit though. I personally can’t wait until their bad computer habits come and bite them hard in the ass because they thought they were “virus proof” on Mac lol
7b) I’m pretty sure Thunderbird has a Mac version. I don’t know if it is still being supported since I dropped that ages ago for Gmail.com, but you might be able to get away with a simple copy dump. and as far as Firefox, it offers a sync feature that should transfer your profile. You can also make a collection which s what Mozilla calls a grouping of related add-ons.

Well my personal setup is XWidget, XLaunchPad, VirtuaWin, and a MS Touch Mouse for Expose.
There are TONS more options though, many of which were around before the Mac copied them. On the Mac we don’t get many choices because Herr Jobs was forcing his preferred style at the time on us and because it was flashy enough no one bothers to challenge it (very sad for Mac users) Maybe now that he’s dead that will change, but that’s something we’ll have to see on the next version of the OS since Mountain Lion is just a glorified patch for Lion.

Yup, in Win7 the notifications are much tamer. You can chose exactly which ones pop-up and under which circumstances.
The only reason anyone would get pop-up spam is if they never examined their system, and I imagine most The Verge readers are at least computer literate enough to handle that small task since it is literally only two clicks away.
During the XP and Vista years I was all about MacOS, but Win7 is pretty awesome and now it is my main OS while my Mac gets relegated to fun time like light web browsing and playing games (the new iMac’s screen is pretty wicked)

This is also a great recommendation. Knowing how to use both like a pro lets you see through the fanboy bias while Linux is a bit more varied it’s also valuable info to have under your belt.

Not all FW drives come with USB. I have one that is FW. Further I did explain why FW was a joke. My explanations were in paragraphs 2 and 3. Of especial poignancy was Paragraph 3.
Yeah, so stop flaming then. FW is exclusively different from USB and just because SOME HDDs also happen to have USB, that doesn’t mean that FW itself is useful outside of an island mentality.
Oh and as far as you trying to pull that "I’m gonna take a high road " bullshit that you wrote in the last sentence, read the second paragraph of my FIRST post in this little thread; I already know that both Windows and Mac are capable OSes I’m being realistic with the OP though and you are spouting drivel that is only relevant if the OP wants to take an Island approach.

Dude, I own a Mac, Firewire is a joke and Thunderbolt has no support unless you buy an Apple Monitor.
Firewire is basically used on Mac-only external HDD, which is USELESS in the real world where we all have to talk to each other and get work done.
USB 3 eliminates the need for both Firewire and USB 2, but at least has the benefit of being backwards compatible with the world standard that is USB2.
Relying on Apple-backed tech nowadays is super risky because they are often the only ones supoporting it in any meaningful way and it is beyond stupid for anyone to only think up scenarios where they are doing solowork that is incompatible with what other people use. That’s why PDF, RTF, and USB were invented.

The same is possible on Windows, and has been around longer than Macs had it, but in Windows it seems to be every man for himself so most people that aren’t tech literate never even know its an option.
I’ll give you that having it deault in the OS is awesome and Lon’s implementation particularly is pretty nice if you throw down the extra cash for a track pad, but you can get the same navigation on Windows and in fact have my Windows computer set up very similarly.

Generally, the apps are nicer looking on Macs, but you get way more on Windows, especially when you have a VERY specific tweaks or system modifications in mind.
In broad terms, you’ll never be wanting the opposite of whichever you chose since they are both versatile, but when you need a nitty gritty thing done your choices drop off significantly on the Mac.
And of course, your hardware is severely limited on Macs. Not only will you pay an ass-load for a mid-range computer, but then you have to either settle for inferior versions of things (like USB2 instead of USB3) or you’ll be forced to pay even more because you need adapters (Thunderbolt to HDMI) or perhaps even just having to make due without native support (like with Blu-Rays)
If you put a premium on “pretty” get the Mac, if not you’ll probably be better served with a Windows machine depending on your level of dedication.
