For $250 unlocked it would be a great phone to pad sales from the Play Device Store. It may cost them too much to manufacture for that price.

Galaxy Nexus is 4.3 if you take the on screen buttons into account. It is the same size as a Lumia 900.

I have a Nexus S as well, and find myself not even wanting to grab my laptop anymore. If the screen was bigger, I would hardly ever use my desktop either. They would be relegated to gaming and theater PCs. It is just nicer surfing on a touch screen.

Do you have to use a computer to update, or can you do it OTA?

Not really true in ICS. Many of the apps now have a similar “back in the app” button in the upper left corner. You can still use the back button, but it is not as predictable, it may take you out of the app.

Unlike what Boris would have you believe, weight does not equal reliability or durability. Plastic is light and will take impact better than metal and most definitely better than glass. Who wants a brick in their pocket? My Nexus S is all plastic but still seems solid and has been bullet proof.

The pentile issue is non-existant unless you are looking at your phone with a microscope. There is no discernible difference otherwise. Side by side with my buddy’s iPhone 4S you cannot see any issues that have been proposed.

Lumia 900? It doesn’t compete with either of the phones you mentioned. It is big and bulky compared to both and doesn’t have the hardware or software to compete.

If iOS is so arcade, then Metro is so pre-school. iOS is simple and functional. Metro is different just for the sake of being different. It is still a grid of icons, but they added big colored squares behind them to seem like it is something new. It ends up just being a less efficient grid of icons.

Just because they don’t use Android doesn’t mean they don’t compete with Android. Many Android OEMs post profits. How many OEMs post a profit from Window’s Phone?
Nokia is going to continue to slide until WP8 is released, and if it doesn’t catch on, they are in real trouble. That is a big gamble to take on only one system. They should not limit themselves so much, it is going to cone back to haunt them.

How is it unrelated? Another current platform that is going to have no upgrade path to the next version. It is definitely related. It has been basically been confirmed by people like Paul Therrot, not to mention Microsofts silence on the issue. It is not bullshit at all.

Microsoft is about to do it again, so obviously they haven’t learned either. It really doesn’t matter anyways. Consumers do not care about these things as much as we would like to think.

Android wouldn’t be nearly as popular if it wasn’t a wide open platform. Just ask Windows Phone. They c an barely muster 2% even thought they have a “non-archaic” (hidden development) update process. OEMS like that they can put their own spin on the software and still have access to the whole Play Market. Windows Phone’s system is archaic if you ask me. It greatly limits the hardware potential of the platform and will prevent current devices from getting updated at all. You likely won’t even be able to install a custom ROM of Apollo.

The roll out happened after the software was finished. That took 5 months of Beta. Android isn’t finished when the source is released. It still needs to be adapted to all the hardware. Android phones are usually updated within a couple weeks of the final build being released. But each Android phone has a different “Day 1”. If you don’t like a particular manufacturers update history, don’t buy from them.

WP and iOS are not “Day 1” releases. They hide “Day 1”, so what you are experiencing is the “taking candy from a baby” effect.
