The play store is available, it’s just that there’s no paid apps allowed (Maybe they haven’t yet found a secure payment method). However, I think as long as your Google Wallet has an American credit card it will allow access to the US store (as I am enjoying right now). For the vast majority though, Amazon is the best method. Currently, there’s like 5 or 6 large third party markets in China (and Baidu has one that searches them all, which IMO opinion is the best), but they all only have free apps(from pirates). This means that Amazon’s Market would be the first legal store with apps submitted by their original creators instead of hackers, and also paid apps. This seems great at first, but considering that the vast majority here doesn’t care about piracy and official updates more than there bank account, and that Amazon didn’t make ANY ads at all, this could turn out to be a huge failure. Really hope they have plan B ready.
