But the problem is, what if they classify you as an enemy combatant/terrorist? In which case, you’ll quickly find out how difficult it would be to build a defense case and how easily they can railroad you. And if you are falsely accused, try and see if you can file a suit against them for having ruined any of your future prospects.
It’s a fundamental issue with accountability, and checks and balances, to keep any one department or agency from running rough shod and launching their own partisan witch hunts for any group or organization they deem to be “outside of the mainstream” or the “nation’s values”. Case in point the IRS scandal.
