Piracy IS rampant on Android, but it’s also rampant on PC and the consoles… it’s all about VOLUME. Android is selling like hotcakes right now, and the user base is growing, both in high end and budget segments, and while there isn’t as much money in it as on iOS, any company would be stupid not to take full advantage.
Also, did you notice the article title? It says “on Android and iOS”, not the other way round. Would have been unthinkable just a few months ago.

My battery life is fine. The only real problem with it is degrading performance once internal memory nears full capacity. It is a big problem, no doubt, but it’s also something that can be avoided and will most likely be addressed by Google in the future.

After using an iPad 2 for a couple of months, I got myself a Nexus 7. I forgot all about the iPad the moment I smelled the freedom of easy file management, audio and video file support, fully functional Bluetooth, standard MicroUSB with OnTheGo capability, NFC… On top of that, I find Android JellyBean to be the more functional, polished and overall pleasing OS. Apps are just bonus.

I agree that terror happens unexpectedly. What I’m doubting is that a single locked mobile device could ever be the one clue to stopping said terror.

Looking over these iOS exclusives, it’s mindblowing how many are just things you’d buy, install, and just occasionally marvel at the design instead of actually using them. I may be unlike most people, but I’m finding more and more that I just need like a dozen or so apps, tops, for my daily use. The best ones are actually those that pull several functions together into a single app, but do it WELL.

It takes much, MUCH better designers to create a beautiful “flat” UI than it is to create… iOS, basically. Skeumorphism is as limiting and dull as it is, at times, “beautiful and detailed”. I don’t mean to get into a discussion here, but I’m a designer and it’s a pet peeve of mine.

A few months ago I got an 80GB 6th-gen Classic from a friend. Its hard drive was almost dead, so I got a barely used 5th-gen 30GB with a faulty board online for almost nothing, and used the hard drive, back plate and battery for my 6th gen. Works great. Never bought a single song, or anything else, on iTunes. Apple still treats my region as worthless, and that’s my opinion of them as well. Every mp3 player I’ve owned before sounds better than the Classic, and it managed to wipe all my data and demand to be restored already since I put it together, but it’s still a solid piece of kit.
