Samsung literally owns the ‘phablet’ market. It would be tough for anyone to make a dent here. Most of their recent good stuffs came from Note lineup. They will come out all guns blazing in Note 3. It would be better for HTC to concentrate in ‘normal’ smartphone.
They need an alternative for S-Pen (i know some guys may not use it), Note application, multi-window, and an amazing battery life. Merely having superior build quality won’t be enough to compete against Samsung in Note market.

Seriously, stock android is not a solution for hunger problem in Africa. stop over-estimating that. stock is good, its lean, it’s fast. But it also lacks some basic features, and it doesn’t sell well.

I don’t agree with this logic, respectfully.

I don’t believe that Samsung considers HTC as a challenge. For them it’s all about Apple/iPhone. Look at all their commercials. All of them are targeted at Apple. Fighting with HTC will only give more visibility to HTC, Samsung won’t gain much thinking about HTC.

The same issue happened with GS3. Everyone in the press was talking about how good HTC One X was. I don’t believe that they are worried about HTC or Sony. They only worried about big fish like Apple, and small-cheap players (Chinese/Indian) who are eating into the low-medium range.

A phone should work ‘properly’ in it’s stock form.

It’s not an excuse that you can modify and install a lot of other stuffs to get it working properly. Having this option is definitely good. But it doesn’t mean that they should sell an unoptimized phone in first place.

I expect better performance from Nexus-class device considering they have so less bloat and cleaner. Maybe drivers are at fault here, but end users don’t care much.

Different uses cases. There are many instances/comparisons where GS4 literally ‘blew-away’ iPhone/any other phone. Not saying you are wrong in your analysis. It’s just that everyone has a different parameter to judge.

Check GSMArena’s comparison tool. Also Phonearena did a big comparison. Also you have mobile-review comparison.

Now, remember that sensors are different on Qualcomm and Exynos version. Exynos version uses Exmor RS, whereas US version uses Exmor R.

You are likely top find the audio also different between the 2 versions. Exynos version uses a ‘better’ Wolfson DAC WM5102 .
