The LTE version of the PlayBook should allow users of the alpha BBOS10 hardware to use their device/brick to actually connect to the Internet and to use the phone as a phone. Using innovative Blackberry Reverse Bridge software, the LTE Playbook marks a radical shift in Blackberry technology. Instead of a phone hotspot, RIM turns the market upside down with a tablet hotspot for a new range of dumb phones. /s

You basically need an app to be sorta successful ($1000 in revenues) in order to “win” the $9,000. The more it sells, the less RIM pays out. So RIM only pays when the apps are in the $1000-10,000 revenue range. Of course, you’ll be “happy” if your app makes $10K on its own, and that is what RIM is counting on. However, the key here is whether it worth your effort to gain $10,000 from a port or $10,000 by sticking to your current platforms (status quo). There is an opportunity cost.
