I support a company that employs 5 people and gave each one a 2012 iMac 21.5"
They’re brilliant. Very, very quiet, and they don’t get hot at all, which is a big change from the 2011 model.
Screen is marginally better. It went from an 8/10 to an 8.5/10. Hands down the best monitor at this size. The only two 10/10’s I’ve seen are the iPad 3+ and iPhone 5

A couple things.
- The general irritating things that Samsung adds because they think it improves the experience, but totally doesn’t.
- Unexplained lag and slowdowns in certain places. The phones are putting in extremely powerful processors to overcome this but it’s ridiculous. The S3 sometimes takes 2-4 seconds to load the PHONE app.
- The way I need to manage my running apps like it’s an OCD to ensure peak performance. Android tries to do a decent job, but in an ideal world I should never, ever, need to close an app manually. I have an iPhone 5 and it’s like that.
- The way I need to manage my GPS/3G/Wifi/Brightness/BT to get acceptable battery life because they’re not well managed.
- The way animations don’t always work predictably. Especially from home screen to app and back out.
- The input lag. I know most people don’t notice it but it kills me. I feel like I’m disconnected from the phone when it doesn’t respond like butter.
- The inferior (compared to iOS) browsing experience. Fonts are a particular issue for me. Android’s typography pretty much sucks.
- Pinch-zooming doesn’t feel natural. It feels artificial or “on-rails”.
- When widgets are used to launch an app, the animation plain doesn’t work. The app simply “appears”.
- Scrolling. It’s laggy, and when it’s not, it just feels unrealistic. The content doesn’t stick to my finder. It’s actually kind of accelerated. It’s tough to explain. If I drag upwards from the bottom, by the time my finger is at the top of the screen, I expect the same row I grabbed to be under my finger. Instead, it’s long gone.
- The way the camera seems like a totally separate entity. When I launch it, there’s this weird second where the UI shifts into landscape, like the launcher/lock screen, whatever.
- Too many times am I asked to select a default app.
- Speaking of default apps, two taps if you want to use an app once is too much. (Select app, click “Just Once”).
- In general, there are certain paradigms that are being replicated from the Windows / Desktop world, like the file system, etc.
- Non-user friendly file system. There are too many irrelevant folders cluttering your view when trying to navigate the file system.
- Volume control isn’t fine grained enough on most phones.
- Uninstalling apps doesn’t remove EVERYTHING, which is really annoying if you like to test out a lot of apps. They add folders on your SD card, store sqlite files, small media files, and other stuff. Whatsapp is particularly guilty of this but it’s FAR from the only one.
- While the permissions screen when installing an app feels required, it’s too intimidating for users to bother to read it.
- I know this isn’t ICS-related, but the lack of a smaller-screened flagship phone. There is literally zero choice outside of the Razr M which isn’t very nice looking IMO.

You’re absolutely right. Great point. It’s kind like when people piss on the iPhone’s suddenly-shitty 326 PPI cos the HTC One has 440 ppi. both are spectacular
