They can’t call themselves “extrodinarily conservative” if they allow bring-your-own-device at all. Just sayin’.

In return for sharing information about ourselves online, we get connections to other people that we might not otherwise have had. Once these connections are carried into the “real world” they can have a profound impact on our lives.
If we got nothing in return except “a place to share photos with our friends” I doubt social networks would have caught on. You can’t ignore the “networking” aspect of social networks. It’s in the name.

The lines are blurry at best. “Learn to code” could mean a lot of different things. In about 1995 my family got our first computer (I was 10). A couple years later I got really into this “Internet” thing and started learning HTML and associated languages. If this was not “programming” that’s fine, but it was my gateway into the domain.
For the average person I’d say HTML, CSS and JavaScript are a great place to start. Then learn Java or something similar to learn OOP. Once you learn to think like a computer, and you learn the concepts behind modern programming languages and operating systems, you should be able to go anywhere from there. Then branch out and try whatever languages tickle your fancy. You may find out that you like it enough to make a career out of it (like many of us did) or you might find that you don’t, but you’re definitely not wasting your time!

exactly. This is not “spying” at all.
However, that aside, teachers would be wise to stay away from facebook altogether… there’s nothing good that can come of it for them.
