The plots are silly, but pack surprise and excitement. The action scenes are well done and ultra entertaining. They’re basically modern day Bad Boys movies. If you haven’t tried them, grab some beers and start watching… thats what I did and they convinced me. I used to be just as skeptical as you.

I think it’s way to early to tell, but just to recklessly throw in my opinon; PS4.

For these 10 reasons:

1. I generally favor the exclusives on Playstation
2. Sony seems to have a greater focus on gamers, devs and games. I know, shocking.
3. The TV control stuff on XBO will fail like Google TV has. That’s not to say it won’t eventually be supplanted with apps a-la roku, but for now- no. I’ll buy an Apple TV or something purely media focused for that.
4. The new Xbox is ugly (even though that doesn’t really matter, it shows me that MS doesn’t seem to “get it”. Then again, the current 360 has grown on me… I just wish they hadn’t pushed J Allard out. He “got it” with the original 360, as far as I’m concerned).
5. the new Xbox controllers still take AA batteries?! Please tell me they’ll have a rechargeable model as well!
6. Where’s the indie games focus for Xbox?
7. Kinect, while very cool, has yet to be proven as a way to enhance the kinds of games I play.
8. The PS4 hardware looks to be slightly superior, although I would be surprised it we ever see a definitive improvement in the multi-plat games.
9. I’m not addicted to XBL.
10. Where’s the radical innovation? I liked the look of the Illumiroom demo, and it would be extremely cool if either Sony or MS showed any interest in supporting the Oculus Rift. At least Sony’s doing something with cloud gaming… I dunno, maybe clever devs will prove the Kinect worth my money. Maybe Sony will botch the gaikai stuff!

With this last gen, I had both a 360 and a PS3 (and a Wii). The two HD systems got the most play for me, but ultimately the PS3 won out for me with games like Uncharted, MGS, LBP- heck, even Pixel Junk Monsters. Blu ray was also really nice, both for movies and games (no disc swapping). Also, I got to use Netflix without paying for another service to access it.

I spent a ton of time with multi-plat games like COD4, Bioshock and the Rockstar games, many on the 360 because of the graphical advantage. Now that both systems are so similarly spec’d, that advantage is gone for me, if not leaning toward the PS4 anyway.

Oh, and bonus reason:

• The damn HDD on the Xbox One is proprietary, again. Dick move MS.

Yeah, its not exactly helping anybody out that doesn’t have a cable box either.

…wait a sec.. how can it be the ONE box in my living room if I need a cable box for it to control? Not to mention the Kinect is yet another box…

They went nuts with the vents on both the console and the kinect. Probably hoping to avoid a repeat of RROD… but damn. Not going to be fun dusting this thing.

Also, on the back of the kinect? I hope you can still place it near a wall, like if your TV is mounted to one…
