The highline park is really quite something, Rockefeller Plaza and MoMA comes to mind, the place is pretty amazing (I was there last summer for a few days) just walk around and I’m sure you’ll find something. Oh and the New York Public Library (main library) is a great place to spend time and they have a fair bit of history information at hand there.
