Again, please, don’t focus on that stupid 4K thing I mentioned. The console will support 4K, but as of now, for all the reasons you have mentioned, this doesn’t make it any better. I’m not talking about PS4; they didn’t announce a price either, but again this doesn’t make the One better. It was just a flaw by both PS4 and XO.
Used games. Wanna borrow a game from your friend? F*** you, pay for it. Wanna go to a friend’s house to play your game? F*** you again, he will need to pay. Wanna resell the game? Fine; whoever will buy it will need to pay again once the disc he already bought gets into the console. And that fee, according to Harrison, will be as expensive as a brand new title, because “It’s effectively a new game”, he said.
And now another news says you need to be online at least once every 24 hours to play. I have no problem for this, but I think of all the people who want to play offline. They can’t. They can’t because they need both to activate the game online first, and then be scanned every 24 hours online to be allowed to play.
I care because being big (just read on the Internet, it is basically the size of a first gen Xbox, and now you have a second brick too) means I need to sacrifice more space, it might not fix in the box I use for my 360 now. This also mean that if my Kinect 2.0 is broken, I can’t play. Does that sound reasonable to you?
And please stop comparing it to the PS4. Every PS4’s problem doesn’t make the One better. You might say that that’s the way it is, and I’d tell you that it is wrong because WE GAMERS get tucked every damn time.

Think again. Think about the impossibility of lending a game to a friend, or borrowing one. Think about private purchases of any kind, not just GameStop. Wanna buy a used game? Perfect, but the physical disc won’t be enough, you’ll have to pay a fee to activate it. And according to Phil Harrison, this fee will be as pricey as a full brand new game.
2+2…

Guys please don’t focus on the most stupid things. I was just thinking about what one (PS4; no pun intended) is offering and what the other is not. And I wasn’t even sure; in fact, Xbox One will support 4K. But does this make the console any better, as of now? No, absolutely. There are so, so many things that are just WRONG with this console.
I just hope for the E3.

That’s funny actually.
Still I’d take a HTC One and a PS4 (ad of now) if I had to choose only one.

It is, indeed.
btw, in the previous comment I wanted to actually say: “This does not mean that their E3 can’t be awesome”.
Damn you editing time.

Awful presentation. Boring and full of pointless stuff.
No 4K (did they say anything?). No IllumiRoom. No price. Just one new IP. Another super boring CoD. Used games are blocked. No 360 retrocompatibility. Kinect 2.0 is always required, and it’s big.
Maybe the name is the only thing I actually loved, thanks to HTC.
PS_ This doesn’t mean that their E3 might be awesome. This Reveal though was not.

Here’s MobileTechReview’s sneak peek. Looks like a GS4 with a Snapdragon S4 Pro and a 8MP shooter.
Ugh.

If you don’t like the vertical app drawer you can always try a new launcher, and toggle the notification panel a bit with apps like Power Toggles :)
I’ll be joining the Army in the following weeks with the One too, can’t wait!

I don’t know, the integration between hardware and software in the One is more important than in the S4 IMHO.
If you ditch Sense, you also lose the Beats Audio software and crucial features like Zoe; we also don’t know how the AOSP ROM would work with that 4MP camera.
4.2 is about to come, and the experience between the Vanilla UI and Sense doesn’t seem to be that different. Sense now is light, fluid and really good looking.
Sure, a Nexus version would receive 5.0 immediately in the fall/winter, and that might be a game changer. But as of now… I’d rather stay with the “normal” HTC One. The S4, with its “normal” but still incredibly powerful hardware, takes more advantage of a stock experience; and I would go for it, lived I in the US/had I a 32GB black version.
That’s a personal opinion of course.

So yeah the back is removable, but still I can’t figure out what that thing under the camera is.

One thing I really hate about all that S-crap, beside slowing down the phone (at least in my brief experience with it), is the fact that they only work with stock apps. At least some of them. What’s the point of Smart Pause (for instance) if it doesn’t work with YouTube?

It might seem a bit confusing because of redundant information such as time and temperature, but overall it looks pretty amazing.

This would basically be a Nexus 4 with expandable storage and LTE.
It’s the same kind of problem that the GE GS4 has – the more you have, the more you pay. I’m not justifying it, I’m not saying it’s fair, just making a statement.
100$ for LTE and expandable storage, 300$ for a bigger, user replaceable battery, a 1080p screen and a better camera (over a Nexus 4).
There’s no “best” option in here, it all depends on your needs and pockets. Having such an alternative would still be great though, that’s for sure.
PS_ Little OT: being in Italy, that 650$ price still looks amazing to me. The GS4 here is €699, roughly 900$.
So yeah, that 650$ (that I read as €500, not counting taxes and anything) looks still amazing to me.
We pay a lot for the phones, but then I spend 10€ a month and have unlimited text/data/voice and I’m not on contract (GSM of course).
(Don’t really know why I said this, lol – just wish I had a 650$/500€ GS4)

OP has a point, and given that I think this is not possible, I do prefer to have a great 13MP sensor rather than the One’s camera, which loses big points without Zoe.
Anyway, what would make the Google GS4 a perfect purchase for me is a 32GB Black model. Give me that, whatever the price, and I’m sold.

And a better screen.
And a better camera.
And expandable storage.
Not sure If totally worth the price difference, but overall I think it’s quite better if you ask me.
