What are you talking about? If I go to walmart and buy a dvd, i pay sales tax, (currently) if I buy it from amazon I do not.

most other countries use a VAT system, we do not because of the way the US is set up, each state sets its own sales tax, including some counties. Does not affect things being shipped out of the states at all

there are 3 channels for the ChromeOS. Stable, Beta, Dev. Stable is what comes out of the box for everyone, beta channel is testing the next update/release of the OS. (almost ready channel)

the DEV channel is basically an alpha channel, things are going to be broke, never make it to beta, etc. In fact, it is suggested you don’t use that channel if the chromebook is your daily driver, since things that are 100% working in stable might be broke in Dev.

Playing “games” is all relative. Starcraft, no, facebook games, yes.

All the flash games on the web, notably all those kids sites that are extremely flash heavy, yes.

Printing is easy with a cloud print ready printer or the HP eprint system.

If Google Docs is not doing it for them, then skydrive.com with the built in Word/exel/Powerpoint will be just fine. Office365 upgrade to the online parts works also, just not the downloadable pieces of the software suite.

there is no Java on a chromebook though, just be aware of that. (gotomeeting will not work)

Any HP e-print printer and cannon cloud print ready printers will work with the chromebook. Just put the printer in the house, connect it to the web, and associate the printer with the Chromebook. (the Gmail you log in with) and done. You can print to that printer from anywhere actually, by logging into your gmail on any computer.
