I believe you are 100% correct. It is not Microsoft who creates the trackpads or drivers. But MS does make an amazing TOUCH mouse. I spent an hour playing with one an would buy one if I had the need.

And Sharp is probably glad it didn’t become Apple dependent. The outcome for Sharp would be worse. This opens more doors for the company, and with Apple’s projected growth of 5% annually for the next 10 years, Sharp would have been in a lot of trouble (well more than what it is now).

Why? I think I would love this as my work phone. Emails is the main thing I would need access to. I would much prefer it over the iPhones that have taken over the office. I would rather have a physical keyboard (damn fat thumbs). I love choices.

I can see unification for various apps but not all, and many developers would probably not support it. It be great if Office worked the same across all product lines (with macros support grr). Other products like Matlab or AutoCAD probably be best to keep out of unification. (Although AutoDesk’s Sketchbook would be awesome on all devices). So if there was unification we probably would only see it for select apps.
It would potentially raises prices though, because one license would run on multiple devices. Huge negative if you were only buying it to use on one device.

Thing is anything made for RT works for x86/x64. Both platforms use Windows Runtime (WinRT).
