I tried to give the Modern UI apps a chance but very few of them are actually useful, and many aren’t very stable. In general, I don’t like the look of them on my large monitor. They often look sparse and inefficient rather than “minimal.”

The only ones I’ve used for any length of time are the default Mail client, Netflix and Twitter. I sometimes use the Evernote client but it doesn’t come near the features available from the desktop client. Same with Onenote.

Sometimes it chokes and tries to upload a partially downloaded track, which I then have to delete from the webapp. There seems to be no way to force it to upload again without uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I love how un-bloated the app is but it can be really inflexible at times.

Any.do is great, but it’s another free GTD app with no sustainable business model. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it acquired as well. The whole market will probably be better off when Google inevitably closes Google Tasks, removing the mediocre elephant from the room.
