ooh, that’s a problem. I was under the impression that air-play mirroring would just replicate whatever was on my screen, whether playing in flash, browser, vlc etc, is that not the case?

thanks for the input guys! Since the extra apps on the roku 3 will be wasted on me, I might as well get the atv simply as an airplay + netflix dumbpipe. Besides im looking forward to the new mirroring/second screen features that’ll come with mavericks. The laptop is still the best media streamer in the business, and as long as mirroring works flawlessly (it does right?), the apple tv is just it’s extension.

I really doubt you would have this same reaction had the shoe been on the other foot. And that is problem with statements like these. Not that i’m saying apple copied anyone, but “copying blatantly” is not evidence of “lack of copying”.

it’s just my take, but im pretty sure the battery life will remain 12 hours come mavericks. but it probably involves some very creative way of calculating usage.

i actually think those numbers are for the haswell boost AND mavericks combined. They just gave the rating prematurely since they expect all systems to be updated in a couple months anyways. But thats just my take.

i think from prior experience, when they say x hours of battery life, they are pretty much spot on. So if they’re saying 12 hours right now, it probably will be 12 hours.

dynamic icons are overrated IMO, the calendar icon is the only one i think is useful at that icon size, maybe a temperature number on the weather app.
