Isn’t the data sheet similar because it comes from the same source; wolfram alpha? agree about most everything else though, they really could’ve improved on the “siri” interface if they tried even a little, but ‘lazy’ seems to be a design language over there.
As for the responding assistants, there were plenty that responded, Voice Action by Pannous was available/is still available on the App Store almost a year prior to Apple’s announcement of Siri. It just didn’t work very well then..

yes, the app is very very similar, the inspiration is obvious. but the buttons are not. Sorry. if you think an oval textured button is the same thing as a circle with brushed metal, it isn’t. The use of light as feedback is similar, granted, but not blatant. I think of all the things to bash samsung about, we can give them a pass on the damn button.

it looks pretty different to me, unless you mean the microphone icon, which is identical but the nexus S used the same mic icon in froyo, i believe it is a standard mic depiction…

but it does serve to illustrate that while natural language processing is enabled, its not neccesary. In most cases Siri will perform the task, perhaps more efficiently if you use one word commands like the Malkovich does. just ‘weather’ instead of ’dear Siri, how are you feeling? could you please tell me what the weather is going to be like today?"
of course more complex commands need more than one word, but if you test it you’ll see that you can get away with saying things like “weather tomorrow” or “Weather Chicago”,
if the end result of a voice processing system is to help us and make us more efficient, should we start interfacing with it accordingly? More malkovich-like, less Zooey Deschanel like.

why would someone who was actively employed by samsung specifically for UX development, be just getting a hands-on with the Sgs3 now… it seems kinda fishy, it’s like Steve Jobs walking on stage at the iPhone announcement and saying; “hey, this is my first time with this thing… pretty nice, and oh wow, its made of glass…cool”

i dont know, ever since Paul left the internet, it seems like he’s been depressed. I mean look at those pictures, every time they put up a picture of him, it’s him looking sad, or sitting alone, with the elongated fisheye angle lens, like that Keanu reeves picture
.
i’m worried. kinda.

Yes, though you have to wonder, that while the old touchwiz may not have had much input from him since it was being developed prior to his employment, the new Nature UX on the other hand…

Steve Kondik, one of the main major domos behind Cyanogen Mod is actually employed at Samsung as part of their UX design team… Go figure.

The last few 13" MBP’s have debuted at $1199, Apple tends to keep a stable price point for its new products despite upgraded internals, (see; new ipad), the current gen MBP13 was 1199 till a few weeks ago, when it fell to 1099 at bestbuy and amazon and other retailers etc not at apple. So the extra hundred is based on that price, of course what apple does is up to them.

any metal alloy will do, it only has to resist a certain stress factor.

any plastic frame should have this seam, that’s how plastic casings are made, check out any plastic electronic you own. Polycarbonate and aluminum unibodys like the One series avoid this by machining the entire casing from a single piece, which isnt quite possible with plastic frames, due to the nature of the material itself and since they need to put the plastic frame around an inner titanium frame in the nexus, so they use different pieces joined together, it’s rough and its not as refined as poly/alum bodies, but that’s just how it is.

you are right, i mistakenly wrote Britain, when i actually meant Europe. There are specific laws and punishments for Holocaust Denial, and many cases where it has been carried out, in the Most of the EU, except for the UK.
my apologies for my mistake.

if the public, on their own, could be trusted to come up with the right, logical conclusions and follow through in a sane way, we wouldn’t need leaders or great men to point us in the right direction, and we wouldn’t have slavery, segregation or genocide. The Mob is fickle.

the 1099 price drop is temporary owing to the fact that there is an imminent refresh around the corner, i think entry level MBP 13’s are always $1199

thanks, but anything that one would miss from a windows device? Say for example i dont have other apple ecosystem products, and dont plan on getting any. Can i still do something like air-play? i know w7 machines with WiDi can do something similar to airplay but dont require specific hardware, just any WiDi enabled device.
i know the file manager seems like an archaic thing to hang on to, but my work requires me to manage multiple copies of the same file, minor alterations, keeping the original, making backups etc, and it is critical for me to have complete control over those aspects, is the file manager experience comparable?

how much control do you feel you have over your own files and folders in osx vs w7? Like for example, when i import a music collection into itunes, it likes to take the whole thing, make an indentical copy and hide it somewhere in its root directory, instead of keeping it where i deliberately kept it. Is that how OSX will try to organize your files itself, or is that just my perception? (say for example, will i have control over where and how a program is installed?)

i think we give “people” too much credit. Their ability to think for themselves in a sane manner is often over-exaggerated, and it’s not just limited to developing countries.
