I don’t think you’re going to be able to share your games with anyone you want. I imagine that they are going to require that you at least have the same last name as the person you’re sharing the game with.

If I turn my PC on, find out that my internet is down, I can launch steam after not having played any steam game for a while, click on play offline and play a game while my internet doesn’t come back. On a XB1 this wouldn’t be possible unless the console had successfully validated my account in the last 24 hours.

This is something that WILL prevent paying customers from playing games they’ve bought and paid for on their $500 console.

I think they’re underestimating how many people may pick a PS4 over a XBO if all friends/relatives go with a PS4 for whatever reason. I mean, I probably wouldn’t mind the need to connect at least once every 24h, but if all my friends had a PS4, why would I pick a XBO?

Publisher/Content creators are usually very narrow minded when it comes to people “stealing” their work. You have to understand that the number of people who are put off and decide not to buy a game/console because of such restrictions may be bigger than you think. What’s the point of getting paid every time a copy of your game changes hand if a large number of people may simply decide to pass on it because of the restrictions imposed?

Sony said there’s no restriction if you buy a physical disk, but what about digital copies? will they require an active internet connection to play? Will a user be able to play a digital copy of a game without having to be online or to authenticate from time to time?

I’m pretty sure a lot of people will be buying their games online and if the restrictions on digital copies on the PS4 are similar or harsher to those of the XBO, it won’t make much of a difference.

What about the ability to share games with family members on the XBO, does anyone know if it’s possible to share digital copies as well as disks?
